My 94 GTX has no spark to the plugs. I disconnected the red/black wire from the coil and still no spark while turning over. If I hold down the kill switch on the handlebar then it won't turn over. If I do not have the lanyard key on it will not turn over. So, I now think the two switches are okay. Any ideas for the next step? Thanks in advance.

Remove teh plugs from the spark plug end of the wire. Trim off 1/4", and re-assemble. Check for spark.

(you can always hold the ends of those wires, and see if they spark! This will cause you to jump, if there is a spark. If there is no spark, you will not jump!)

I always recommend you use some other person for this test!

H eh he heh eh!

Check the continuity of the Safety Switch Lanyard. It is normally "open". The color codes of the 2 wires are Black and Black/Yellow. These feed back into the electrical module box. The Start /Stop switch is normally "open". The color codes of the 2 wires are Black, that goes direct to ground, (to stop the engine), and the Yellow/Red that goes to the electrical module box. Check the continuity of this switch too.

I hope this helps.

Would the engine not turn over if these were bad? I can release the kill switch and it stops turning over so that says that switch is good. Right
If the lanyard switch is not held down it will not turn over either so it is good. Those are just single pole switches with two wires going to each so I think they are good.
It did blow the 15 amp fuse. Replaced it and it does not blow or has not blown since.
What next?

w/ wire from mpem to coil unplugged, and still no spark, think its a coil or stator problem..
If you decide to tackle the stator assy, I have new "igniting coil" if interested
