I have a 2001 seadoo gts

Yesterday I was riding my seadoo out in the ocean in some pretty big swells. It was about 4-6ft yesterday and i was having lots of fun. once i got back into the intercoastal i was messing around and proceeded to flip my ski. no big deal (yes i flipped it the right way). when i got back on it i went to start it and it wouldnt (it would crank but not start) after about 2-5 min of trying i finally got it to turn over.

after getting it to start i gave it throttle to get out of there and the thing had no power. at full throttle i was going only about 10mph. i would stop and check the motor area but it had no water in it. i would then procede to floor it and the ski would accelerate fine for a split second then would bog down and go that 10mph. when i pulled the ski out of the water i ran the motor and it ran fine, i drained the system and put it back in the water and it felt a little better, maybe it went 15mph.

anyone have any idea what could be wrong? im not to knowledgeble about these things so i dont know where to begin.
thanks!

Hello, gald to hear that you had a blast on your jetski. A friend of mine had that problem last summer when his jetski was turned over. There is a turn over switch in the jetski that will shutdown the jetski when it has been turned over for a period of time. The ski will still start but will have no power. He had to take it to the shop so that they could reset the switch. I hope that this helps and resolves you problem.

this morning i went to start the ski. nothing for about 5-10 mins. finally i got it to turn over when i noticed a lot of black water coming out of the outlet. seems like it is idling high but running okay. i let it sit for 2 hours and went to start it again, and now it will not run without the choke fully engaged. im ready just to take it to the dealer for service

What colour are the fuel lines in your machine? Grey?

It also sound like there might be water in your fuel system. Check the front water seperator filter.

yes my fuel lines are gray, and keep in mind the 8 years i have owned the ski, i have never replaced anything at all on it besides plugs and batteries. where is the filter you are talking about?

and i find it wierd that now it wont run without the choke engaged. it has a very hard start. the plugs also look a bit black and wet.

i just checked some kind of fuel filter, its the one that comes from the tank and goes to the motor, there was a lot of nasty gunk in it, but not enought for it to be clogged. im thinking since i flipped it, maybe some old gunk in the tank got stirred up and into the system

Yes you probably have a clog in the carbs. Your best bet is to remove the carbs and clean them out. You should also plan on changinge the fuel lines to new black ones. Do a search on here, its a very common problems with this vintage of ski. Its not terribly hard, just takes a few hours to do eveything.

Good luck.

If you have the grey lines get rid of them ASAP! I waited untill they clogged up my carbs before I repleced them.

i cleaned the hell out of the carb, and added seafoam to the gas, cleaned the fuel filter. thing starts like a champ now and i now have to test it on the water under a load

tested out the waverunner and it was perfect like nothing was wrong with it. i drove it for about 4 hours today in which it was fine. then all of the sudden the ski felt like it lost some power. i will floor it and the ski will go fast, but not what it usually does. it has power but not as much as it usually does. any ideas?

Hey anth... did you say WAVE RUNNER?..UH...that's a Yamaha silly...:ack: If you just added some additive and it still has the old fuel you need to replace the fuel. Chances are if it is the old fuel the carbs have more crap in them again. You might want to change your spark plugs too as you might have fouled one. Be sure to properly gap them.

think you need to check all fuses, just weird, roll it, then no go...fuses, open electrical box, may be waterin there, or the 15amp fuse is popped. Then, just take carb/s apart, and clean then, be careful, not to rip any gaskets/o-rings...

We HAVE been having some great jetski weather lately. Forget the intracoastal wind chop! The ocean's where it's at!

I had the same problem with my jetski after flipping it. It was out of my realm so I took it to the dealer. They ended up doing a carb kit and dumping the fuel. I filled it up and it started and ran great.

I've been lucky and haven't flipped since. Good luck. Maybe we'll see you on the water! I'm not afraid of no Boca Inlet.... :reddevil:
