No Idle at all

I am having the start my boat in reverse with a bit up tick in the throttle. My Idle is not reliable or non-existent. So going from neutral to forward for docking is a bit dicey as the motor cuts off.

The idle was better in the season. I did not use the boat much as it sat my driveway getting the drive shaft seal fixed. I did put in a can seafoam and that kinda seemed to help.

I have not changed the spark plugs for this year. Should I go ahead and change them?

Other suggestions where to start looking? I guess I will need to put candoo on it.

Interesting, my boat only starts in Neutral. I would have to say your idle control valve might be bad. Start with the spark plugs though and go from there.

agree with pwgsx, something not right here....
shift control linkage??
mine has to be neutral and throttle zero to start!

I used my CANDOO to take a look at the situation and took a good look at the manual. There really is not much can be done other than replacing or cleaning. I tried removing the cable to see if that changed anything while running, no.

So I am search for one now. At 260 new, I will have to go searching for used and home it works.

check the thottle and shift cable adjustment as per the manual, i just saw this;

CAUTION: If there is no free-play at idle position,
it may cause poor idling and startability.
Improper cable adjustment will cause strain on
cable and/or damage cable bracket or throttle
lever.

I have a bit of play there and now I know why. I am going to buy some spark plugs today. I ran the boat out yesterday in the rain. The idle does improve when running; it just runs a bit rougher. I may pull out the idle bypass valve and get a shot with some throttle body cleaner. The manual is not very encouraging on the serviceability of the part.

The Idle Air Control Valve is one of my issues, as well. I saw brand new ones on Ebay for 222.49. I called my Seadoo dealership, he said he can do a little better (190). I bought a used one off ebay for 30 bucks, still no go.

Are you sure the valve is the issue? Check the ohms and all on it. Maybe your boats computer is not sending the signal. Also did you reset the TPS with BUDS or Candoo. This is a must when replacing the valve as well as the TPS or even removing the throttle body.
