No beep when you put the key on the DESS post at times

So my sons 2000 gti is having issues. We started the machine right up, put key on and received the two beeps. Ran for a while then when he try to start again nothing, no beeps. He has two keys so tried the second key and nothing. I changed out the DESS post and still nothing. Let it sit for while and came back to work on and now it has two beeps and started. Shortly after it died and back to no beeps. What may be causing this issue?

Found loose wire in by the starter relay

If you correct the loose wire and the beeper is still intermittent I would replace the beeper. They do just fail over time.
