Here`s one for ya ...I`m working on this 94 sea-doo xp 657x right..motor ran when i pulled it apart,Just had a busted up cylinder and wouldn`t run good..Swaped the motor last year and can`t get anything out of it except backfire through exhaustand it looks like it`s blowing out through the carbs insted of sucking into the carbs...I have tried every timing mark available and a few of my own !could i have the wrong engine from SBT or can this really be a timimg issue..i`m currently on 147 btdc...HELP...Thanks,,,,The new guy Gary

Gary...more important, make sure the closing degree is 65*. Bet ur RV is installed 180* backwards.

RV is in correctley..But it sounds like that !..I will check closing..Someone once said Rectafire..Any thaughts ?..Thanks

I see this a lot...check the rotary valve timing.

Coul it be a bad setup from SBT, like the crank/flywheel/stator not timed correctly?? Just wondering

dont think so...cause, they only send you the block. You got to install the stuff you mentioned.

Yes. After looking at there site it says to remove all this stuff. My bad

ANy other timing suggestions for a 94 xp 657x ?is there any differences in the stator/mag/flywheel for a 657...no x..could there be a mix up ?..i have had this ski for a year and a half just for putting an engine in....And i only work on it when i can..i fix about 10 skiis a year and of all makes models ! I have never seen this

Setting this up is in the shop manual. Do you hav this, if not should get it. As I am sure you are already aware of of, it is all done with the degree well and BTDC setting. I have no idea what the diff is in the 657 and 657x is.
