Long time rider first time buyer. I just got a 95 SP and spent some time looking at what maintenance I should preform before I take it out on the water. I also have a neighbor with some jet ski knowledge giving me some pointers. He recommended changing out the grey fuel lines and I have read several posts online here that say the same thing. So I ran up to the auto store and got 1/4 fuel line.

Here comes my problem.....I only changed the fuel lines that carry gas (I left 2 of the venting lines alone..one goes to the side of the hull and the other to the top of the ski by the handle bars). I checked the grey lines and they looked just fine so I am assuming the previous owner had changed them out at some point. The old lines however appeared to have been 5/16th and not 1/4 so I looked it up the manual online and it says 6mm so I figured he must have replaced them with larger lines at some point.

Now prior to changing these it would fire up (dry start) right away every time. After I changed them I cranked it over and all was good. The next day when I went to start it the motor would turn but it would not fire up. Pulled the carb filter off and hit it with some starting fluid thinking maybe there is air in the gas line but still nothing......I let it rest tried again and it finally started to fire a little. Took another minute or so and it finally fired up. I don't have the hose attachment so I only let is run about 7 seconds but I fired it up a few time after that and it seemed good again.

Now this morning I went to start it and same problem....just cranks but does not fire. Spark plugs are good, im getting a good spark, battery is fresh and I am getting gas into the carb...i can see it and smell it.

Am I wrong about the fuel line size or do you think the venting lines are causing a problem. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

p.s. does anyone know where I can get the hose adapter?

I moved it to 2-Stroke Sea-Doo PWC forum. Can an admin please delete. Sorry and thanks.
