Hello there. A buddy and I are considering picking up a couple PWC, and neither of us have owned one before. I know nothing about them.

We are looking for two skis and trailer in the $4-5K range. I came across these. Granted I think the seller is asking too much (according to KBB.com) and would more than likely offer less.

What would you consider a good price to pay? How is the reliability of these models? What specifically should I check out if I look at them? Any common problems?

Thanks for taking the time to help out a newbie :)

I think its high. B4 throw'n a price at him, go look "really" interested, but take for water trial. If all good, then mention what you would want to pay for them.

I would want a water trial for sure. I would check the compression of them with a tester, good cheap investment if you don't have one. Look at the plugs while you have it off for the compression test. The plugs should have a nice coffee color. Look down the plug holes for anything abnormal. The top of the pistons shouldn't be beat up or carboned up badly.
Look up the jet pump and check to see if everything looks okay, stuff like the imprellor, wear ring, etc.
Look at the hull for cracks damage etc. Make sure everything works.
Remember if you find anything wrong with it, it doesn't mean it's a bad ski. Depending on what it is, it can be used to bargain the price down.
GTX with the 951cc motor isn't a motor I would want for my first ski. Just my opinion though.
