Good Morning Folks....Like the heading says....I'm a newbie. My first problem is, I just bought 2 1996 Seadoo SPX's in great shape. One starts and runs fine. The other just clicks when I press the 'start' button. I've took the electrical box out and checked what I could, here is what I found. All fuses are good, when I press the start button the solenoid clicks, but no crank of the starter. When I cross the two terminals on the starter solenoid the starter cranks. When I try and read power on the solenoid, I have 12.5 volts on one side with the lead from the battery and two small red wires and ground. When I test from the other side of the solenoid and press the start button I don't get anything. I removed the starter solenoid and the power in and out, left the little two wire plug attached, put my meter across the two leads, and when I press the start button I have 1 ohm of resistance. So to me the solenoid is good and my MPEM is bad, but, what do I know....like I said I'm a newbie. Please Help! Ken in Tucson

First make sure you have a fully charged battery. Kinda obvious, but sometimes that all it is. Make sure you are getting a good connection between the post and the cap so the MPEM can read it. You should get two beeps when you put the key on and that means it's ready to fire up.

you said you have 12.5 volts on one side but nothing on the other.. but you think the mpem is bad?? def sounds like a bad solenoid. you're getting power to it but nothing through to the starter side. like ns said, make sure the batt is fully charged, check the terminals on the solenoid.. ive seen similar probs and the person just had bad corrosion on it and needed clean connections. if not, get a new solenoid.
