Hey everyone. I'm interested in finally buying a seadoo boat, but not sure which flavor I should look for

rotax vs merc v6?

speedster vs. sportster vs. challenger vs. ?

The only model I'm pretty sure I DON'T like is the one where there is a row of three seats in the back, and the right-most is the driver's seat (so no swivel driver and passenger side captains chairs). I've also been told that I should find a single engine flavor vs. twin (to keep repair costs down, I presume).

I want to use the boat to enjoy the water, taking maybe 3-4 (or squeezing on 5) people out for a fun afternoon, and doing some tubing or "nothing crazy" wakeboarding/skiing.

Is there a chart that compares all the different seadoo models? Or could someone help guide me towards which model line would suit me best?

Thanks!

Im not super up to snuff on the boats but I would agree that a single motor boat is the way to go since a twin motor is just going to double maintenance costs.

The twin engines are fun though!

I've never owned a SeaDoo boat, however if I were to get one it would be a 96 Speedster. It's got twin 717's the best and lowest maintenance motor(s) that SeaDoo ever used. The twin motors put out 85 hp. each, with separate throttles, you can do some amazing things with the twin motors and separate throttles with handling a speed, it's like a big ski on steroids.

Of course the twin motors means two of everything and twice the maintenance, and heaven help you if you have MPEM problems, but the fun factor is definitely there. And the advantage of the twin motors is, if one craps out the other motor will get you home. 96 in my opinion was the best year for SeaDoo 2-strokes in general.

Anyway, that's my opinion, as my Daddy always said, "opinions are like rectums, everybody's got one."
