I have 1994 spi 587 when hooked up to hose very little water comes out of tell tails. When on the lake both of the tell tails have water coming out of them. After 35 to 45 min the alarm sounds and its shuts down.Wait for a little bit and it starts back up. Any advice would be great!

hey Mike..if the motor isnt "hot to the touch", then maybe a defective temp sensor, inwhich disconnect wire from it, and go about the day, but still purchase new one ASAP. If hot, then something block'n system from cooling correctly, and dont ride no-mo, maybe tear apart the cooling lines and clean/replace, and at same time, poke w/ coat hanger/something that will clear out the spigots...

They have a tendency to clog at the elbow with sand and such. Take the head off then reverse blow air through the system from the flush line. As stated above the sensor probably should be replaced.

Not be contrary to Timmy, but I'd not ride with a disconnected heat sensor. Even if the alarm sounds off. MAYBE just maybe it is taking it a while to get overheated JUST RIGHT, and then it goes off. Back flush it thoroughly. You don't want to run it with a partially clogged cooling sys.

True....whould you think simple solution being...go ahead and ride until buzzer sounds, then check for "hot to touch", if isnt, then pull wire off temp sensor???

If it were mine, I'd probably flush it first, and then try what you said.

A partially clogged cooling system can make it act like the above symptoms.

These little motors don't like to get too hot!:agree:

:agree:, after brainstorm'n on what I mentioned(had headache then), thought, simplist, would be clean water spigots, replace the hoses..etc, then give try..just because, did the way at first thought, may be to late...
