I'm new to Seadoo's and this site. I've learned quite a bit looking through the posts.
I purchased a 96 GSX 800 and it runs well. What should be the top speed for this model if it's completely stock? It doesn't have a speedo so I brought my GPS with me and I hit 51 MPH on a fairly calm lake. Is this average or do I need to do some work on it? Thank ya'll!

I'm no expert by any means, but I did some top speed runs this weekend. I have a 97 GTX with a new pump and engine. It wasn't the smartest idea as the engine only has bout 7 hours on it, but I couldn't help myself..

Anyway, here are the results. 52.8mph topped off with fuel to the brim, and a rear bucket of Corona:) At the end of the day, with no beverages in the cooler and running on fumes, I hit 57.6mph.

This leads me to believe that at least the gauges on my ski is accurate to within +/-2mph. Speed was measured with a Garmin Nuvi GPS(in a zip lock bag:rofl:)

Not sure if any of this helped, but I tried.

Gunz...check the gap between the impellor(leading edge of blade) and the wear ring...no more than 1mm gap, if so, replace the ring....or if its damaged in anyway

Thanks Timmyboy. I looked at the impeller and noticed that it did have some minor damage. I had my friend who works at a dealership look at it and he is replacing the impeller and wear ring. This should increase my top speed and power. Thanks again
