I am new to jet boats. I bought a used challenger the other day and before reading up on the do's and don'ts I hooked a garden hose to the the rear connections by the jet dives and ran water in both engines to flush them out without having the motors running. Today I read this was not a proper procedure and I may have flooded my engines? I have not started or run the engines since then. I have removed spark plugs in one engine and don't see any sign of water. Can anyone tell me if I have made a big mistake and if so what should I do next to try and correct it? I also posted this in the PWC talk, not sure if that was the correct spot?

You need to get them fired up as soon as you can. If you let the water set with water in them too long it will lead to serious problems. Pull the spark plugs and see if any water squirts out when you turn it over, before you try to start it. Remember to put the plug caps on the grounding posts to prevent any electrical problems. You might get lucky and the water didn't flood the engines. If they are flooded you need to get it out real quick.

Keep us posted, and let us know how you make out.

Thanx Karl
I spun both motors with plugs out as you suggested, no water. I am now attempting to drain the oil in both engines I understand that there shoul be about one ounce in each engine. I can't get to the drain plug on the bottom back side of the motor. I inserted a small plastic tube in to the fill plug and use my brake vacuum to take some oil out. I could only get a 1/2 ounce , it was free of any water but seem to be fuel contaminated. Any advice what to do from this point? By the way I have only checked one engine at this point.

If both engines are fuel contaminated. with no water present then I would say that you are in good shape and nothing needs to be done. It would not hurt to add oil but I do not believe that it is required as the engine will add a fuel oil mixture to the counter ballance cavity it self. make sure that both engines start and run ok. It seems that some how you did not flood your engines as you did not have signs of water. I can allways be wrong so wait for other responces.
