I am looking at 3 different sea doo's right now and I need some help in making the right decision
The first one is a 1997 GSX for $2,000 that is in great shape with a rebuild motor and good trailer only thing wrong is the VTS does not work
Second one is a 1995 HX $1,300 that is also in great condition with low hours and again a good trailer
and third is a 1996 XP for $2,500 great condition great trailer

So my main question is witch one of these is going to be best with 2 people on it most of the time, which one has the best reliability factor behind it and which one will preform well in salt and fresh water Thanks

1st off, I don't know the answer.

2nd, I can comment a bit.

3rd, the decision is yours.

So, here goes.

ALL aluminum corrodes. In salt water, much faster. So, look inside the pump, and linkages, and see how much corrosion is ALREADY there. This will affect you if you ever need to work on it. Corroded stuff breaks sometimes.

I don't know anything about those skis.

BUT I can say, having the TRIM option is GOOD if you have 1 person riding, then 2 persons as the CG shifts (Center of Gravity). It will generally perform better, in proper trim. Are any of those 3 person skis? They are better for pulling a skier. In fact, in Arkansas, it is illegal to pull a skier with a 2 person ski.

1 person to drive, one person to ride backward, as spotter, and one skier. Now, if the skier gets tired, he has to have a ride, thus the law about 3 person skis. (this is handy info)

Also, I'd compression check before I bought. (winter is a good time to buy!)
And, generally, a LONGER ski will ride smoother, especially in waves.

And, if any of those are the kind that tip easily, (Sort of like the kawasaki jet ski) it could be more fun (if you think that is fun) but the other passenger(s) may not agree!

:)

Just food for thought.

Go with XP

i paid $2000 for my seadoo last spring the guy that had it before me shelled the engine by running it out of oil so the engine was brand new and new trailer. I would say the 96 xp with the 787cc first and try talking him down to at least 2000. then i would go for the 97 Gsx and you can usually troubleshoot the problem thats why we have the fourms here. Then the 95 hx thats what i think.

just curious if i got a good deal or not. i picked up:

1994 XP (unsure of hours) good shape except needs a bath and new seat cover
1999 GSX Limited (80hrs) great shape
and a Karavan 2 ski traler, like 6 vests

Both have seen fresh water only

For $3200

did i do good or bad?

Think the guy, heard you say'n..."let go of my ears, I know what i'm doin"..

Nah, sounds like good deal, if the skis only need those items.
