Ok sorry if this is a long post but here it goes.

I have a 1996 Seadoo SPI. It ran great the first year we had it. (we bought it used about 7 years ago.) Now everytim you take it out on the water and put gas in it , it will bogg down really hard under throttle BUT when you take the seat off, it runs fine. It will do this for about 10 minutes and then it runs fine. While inspecting the ski a few nites back I found that the neck on the fuel tank for the inlet hose is broken, therefore fuel is spilling out into the hull when you fill it up.

My theory (which probably doesnt amount to much since im pretty much a newb): The engine is starving for air. All of the fumes build up inside the hull and the motor cant get clean air. Once the fumes are gone, it runs fine. Could this assumption be correct? Or am I pi$$ing in the wind?

Either way, Ive replaced the fuel tank and now I cant get any fuel to the carb. Ive checked all of the hoses. None seem to be pinched or blocked. (this is the first time this year Ive attempted to start the ski. I guess I need to find the fuel filter (not real sure where its at) and try to replace it. I cant even prime any fuel into the carb.

Any and all opinions are appreciated. TIA for the help guys

When changing the tank be sure you didn't mix up the lines on the baffle tube at the tank. Next check to be sure the on off valve is working and not plugged. It sounds like you might need to remove the carburetors and clean them. If you're careful and don't tear or damage the diaphragms you won't need to buy a rebuild kit. Pay attention to the internal filters too. If you have gray fuel lines you need to replace them with black fuel lines available from auto parts stores like Auto Zone. Measure the length you need and bring a sample with you so you get the correct size. Be sure to use “1/4 ID Black Fuel Line” Replace one at a time so you don’t get them mixed up. If you need clamps replace them too. Use small stainless steel clamps also from the auto parts store.
Let me know how you make out.

You don't have a seadoo shop manual? Here’s an idea for you. You could join as a "premium member". As a premium member you can down load a authentic seadoo manual from the seadoo manual library. In the library is a variety of manuals for almost all years and models. You can view as many as you like on line as a PDF file, or download it and print it for your personal and private use. There are operator manuals and repair manuals for you to do your own repairs on your seadoo. The repair manuals have everything from troubleshooting, repair procedures to winterizing. It contains wire diagrams torque specs and pictures for disassemble and assemble instructions. In the spec sheets it tells everything needed to maintain oil changes, spark plug gaps, carburetor rebuilds and impeller wear ring tolerances. Click on the "Seadoo Manuals" link at the top of the page for more details. If you need any help or get in a jam, we are always here to answer your questions too. Premium members get priority when it comes to getting quick detailed answers.
I bought a paper manual for my 200 speedster...cost me $80.00 at the seadoo dealer. The seadoo forum didn't have that new a manual yet. This service is only $10.95 a month. You can cancel when ever you want.

ok...so I did what you said and I became a premium member. I downloaded the manual but I am finding it difficult to read the print for the fuel circuit that shows where on the fuel tank baffle each line is suppost to go. If anyone could help me oput that would be greatly appreciated

The print is small sometimes. If you look at the baffle itself. It might be marked as to what tube is what. Like "Return" "Vent" ect. Than use the manual for the correct line placement going to the carbs or vent in the seadoo. Let me know if your still having problems.

Ok so I pulled the baffle out and wiped the top off. I found that all ports are labeled. so now ill try and get them all in the correct place. Thanks!!! Also, The oil tank has two ports. One has a hose on it and one doesnt. I cant find the hose for it and Im not sure that it ever had one on it? Is this gonna hurt anything or is this how its suppost to be?
