I have a 1992 xp that I bought with no spark. Pulled black/red wire to coil and got spark. Bought aftermarket mpem and it ran. I left the non-dress key in and battery drained Over a week or so. Tried starting again and no spark. Pulled red/black wire again and got spark. What would cause the speed limiter to go out? Are the after market mpem’s that bad? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Did you check your grounds? Could you have an issue with the coil or pick up in the engine? Or perhaps a bad connection or wire to the MPEM. If the MPEM can't see the signal from the pick up, it won't fire the coil. I had that problem on a 1996 GTX but it isn't the same system you have.

I'm getting ready to check those same issues on a 1996 Speedster. The left engine isn't getting fire. If it is the Electronic Module on that thing... I'm gonna open it up and find the problem. Good Luck !!

What is the part number on your MPEM? Some of the older ones are interchangable.

1992 does not have DESS. If you left the lanyard on for a week it killed the battery.

Yes, the aftermarket MPEM's work less than half the time.

Thanks for the response! I did say non-dress or do you just call it the lanyard? New to Seadoo but trying to learn From what I have read the original MPEM # has changed to the new style with the relays inside and the 2 fuses on the module. Is there a certain manufacture to buy from or they are all a crap shoot?

Some of the MPEMs are interchangeable. What engine does your ski have? I have some complete gray boxes with all the electronics for the older skis.
