New Wear Rings & Inspection

Here's the info on the Clarence of the impeller;
Wear Ring clearance for your seadoo 1.0 mm or (.040in) Measure the clearance at the center of the impeller blades, with a 12” long gauge. Measure the clearance from the venturi side of the jet pump.

What is the venturi side? Can I measure the clearance without taking anything off the boat?

The venturi side is from the rear of the seadoo inside the last part of the nozzle.

I just installed one from SBT, seemed a little loose in the housing but basically a piece of white pvc pipe...if you order one get their impellor tool
 
Elite6 already asked the question in his original post but it hasn't been answered yet and I think it's an important one. If 1.0mm is spec what is max allowable wear, ie 4mm, before noticeable power loss is evident and/or replacement is recommended ?

Out of clearance?

Your 1 mm (.040" for me, I read american imperial measurements) is the max allowable. If your greatere than .040", you have to replace. Even at that .040", your probably going to notice a difference.
 
Thanks Seadoosnipe. I didn't realize that the impeller and wear ring were actually in contact with each other when new/still good. Good to know.

i like the WSM rings you can get on eBay for 35 bucks plus shipping. they are duplicate of orig. on clearances. i have had big gouges in ring without really noticable loss. but i am a half-throttle kind of guy. my idea of performance is she can ride all day with her grandson on the front without screaming at me because it broke...
