New Wear Ring Impeller Won't Spin?

Hi, I have a GS 720 and I installed a new wear ring; it spins freely until I torque it down to the 52lbs torque spec. Once torqued, the impeller wont budge? The housing won't spin....way to tight. I ordered another pump housing but, won't get it until next week....my old housing bearings have a slight grit feeling in the stator vane side. Thnrust washer and bearing look/feel mint. I had a new / extra wear ring from last year so, figured I'll give it a try into new housing is delivered. I have a Solas impeller that is mint...n o noticable damage. Any tricks to freeing this impeller up?

Update: I switched the pump shaft with an old housing from last year and it impeller fits/spins perfectly? I'll give that a try....

Typically it is caused by pinching the thrust bearing.

thanks.....the other thrust bearing looked new? weird....
