Had my new to me wake 230 in the lake for the first time this weekend.. Seems the previous owner was a bit less than forthcoming.. Surprise surprise :-( a few deferred maintenance items.. But two things in particular I noticed top speed is about 42 to 43 miles an hour not the published 50.. And the electricals, stereo and some lights seem to be on all the time and the batteries go dead over a 24-hour period.. as well the speakers on the tower don't seem to be getting power. Can anyone comment on any or all of these?

Hi Batman

If you rpms are at the limit and you are not at The top end speed it is usually wear ring or propeller.

The speakers should be fairly easy to diagnose. I have had a number of car stereos with dead outputs or maybe just a loose wire.

I don't know about the lights. Maybe a short or weak ground?

For what its worth, we bought a 2010 Sea Doo 210 Challenger last fall. We bought it right and had some issues and as in your case the original owner wasn't totally up front or just didn't know any better. That said, we were able to take care of everything over the winter and get it ready for this summer. Again, we bought it right and ended up with another 1k into it. We have put a little over 10 hours on it this summer (thats alot here in Iowa) and not a single problem. Once you dig into the problems you have listed I think you are going to have a nice good running boat.

Sorry I cant necessarily help with your problems but at least you should have hope it will all work out fine!

Hey I know this is my first post to this forum. But I may have some I go about your tower speakers. I own a 2009 230 wake with the PA microphone it has to be ON or Auto for music to play through the tower speakers. As for your lights on all the time I would pull fuses to see if is a short to power before or after the switch. Hope this helps cheers
