I recently bought a 2000XP that seems to be runnning good. Seems a little rough at idle but I have nothing to compare it to. Does any one know what the RPMs should be at idle? It is running 1300-1500 RPMs at idle in the water.

Apologize if this one is dumb, but should the ski be engaged in gear at all times? Even with zero throttle the ski moves forward at good clip.

Thanks

Dan the typical rpm at idle in the water is 1500 rpm. On the hose in driveway it will rev 3000 RPM's as it has no load from being in the water. The seadoo is a direct drive meaning it is always turning the impeller forward all the time it is running. The reverse gate ( Covers the nozzle at the end of jet pump) directs it slightly down or to the front ( to go back words) to make change direction of the thrust flow.
