Hey guys first off my name is dave and im new to the world of jet skis. I have been looking at buying a pair and found a setup for a good deal. I bid on and won the auction. From what I can tell they seem like good skis but what do I know!

Here is the listing:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320863439007&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

There are two videos one of each running:

http://www.youtube.com/watch? v=5MTc4fUkwY4&context=C4208896ADvjVQa1PpcFNVuiPqp2ingFlUbinzcXr3FvS-pURmd_o=

Ill be traveling over 1k miles to get these and would just like some input as to whether or not they sound like they are running good and im getting a good deal.

Thanks a ton in advanced!

-Dave

Hi Dave and welcome to the forum.

None of the links work. maybe they were deleted once you bought them.

Tell us more about the skis.

Thanks for the quick reply!

Looks like you would have to copy and paste the you tube link in sorry about that! I think the ebay link should work though and it has pictures of the skis.

Anyway here is the ebay listing info:
VIDEO's of each running attatched! Selling both 1) 2000 'MILLENIUM EDITION" Sea-doo GTX 3 seater (blue and white) just had the battery replaced, new plugs, big seat redone at upholstery shop-nice , top of the line sea-doo rides like a Cadillac (Wifes ski) has just over 130 hours on her-new "SBT"engine put in @69 hrs. We've owned since 2005 (past 40 hrs) Has dash mode module for digital readout of RPM's, time, avg. speed, compass, speedometer, etc. also has 2nd speedometer. (i believe 1 sometimes doesn't work- not sure which- haven't been out since last year) Nice option on the GTX is a nuetral and reverse. Can stand on the side of theese and dive off without flipping. Never gave me any trouble, just service each year. Original owner purchased it new off the showroom floor at Buddy Foster Chevrolet in Zephyrhills, Fl. in 2003. Next ski 2) 2001 Sea-doo "XP" is a 2 seater (yellow and black) also had battery and plugs replaced this week she rides more lika a Corvette, low in the water, seat on a spring (mine) only had 45 hrs. on when i bought it in 2006, don't think i've put as many hrs. on it. Great option on the "XP" is the VTS- adjust front end to ride high @ takeoff then point down @ high speed (planes quick). Both have the same great 951 engines-always ran tremendous- with dual mikuni carbs-for 20 extra horsepower (130hp) nicely paired for riding together (although my wife always drove like she was going shopping). Mechanic says all servicing is up to date, next service would be carbs (but ran great last time out and seem to be running good now just burn off the last of last summers gas-,sta-bil was installed. Been great-they owe me nothing-now it's your turn. Have both clear titles in my name, will be overnighted when check clears or cash in person. I'm a real person with a perfect rating near 500 and would like to keep it that way- here to sell theese- got a boat for the dog. Please be a real buyer with a rating over 10-understand - auction = high bid wins. BUY IT NOW for those who want theese ski's is $6,000 first come, first served. (should be a great deal for someone with the galvanized"CONTINENTAL" two place trailer with spare included) just noticed cracked tailight "will include new one" Please ask any and all questions or concerns, e-mail for phone # to talk shipping if i can help. Thanks and good luck! VIDEOS of both running will be here. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XhAcfPUWxyE&context=C4b7551eADvjVQa1PpcFNVuiPqp2ingAQ4JZPlyPhlDt3AExahxOQ= and here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5MTc4fUkwY4&context=C4208896ADvjVQa1PpcFNVuiPqp2ingFlUbinzcXr3FvS-pURmd_o=

Are you sure these are the ones he bought? He said a thousand miles to travel. Fl is more than 1K from WI

I'd ride them both before sealing the deal... were they freshwater only or salt? what oil was used? how many hrs? flushed? stored inside?

I believe they where stored in a garage. not sure which oil I can ask though. this is what the ebay ad said (if the link to the auction isnt working)

where is my original post..? I dont see why it would get deleted this isnt spam im not trying to sell these I JUST BOUGHT THEM and need advice on if it was a good move before I head cross country to pick them up since I know nothing about pwc's...

I would have suggested finding something closer, but FL has great prices on skis.

these are both excellent skis. I actually have a similar setup (different year).

Like I said, I would ride both before handing over any money. They should start fairly easily (the 951 can be fun to start cold, pull the thottle 1-2x and it will squirt fuel into the engine. Don't rev a cold engine.

PA (my state) requires boater's licenses for ALL PWC operators (Thankfully). Check your local laws.

they look to be in nice shape. have fun with the drive. stop every few hours to check the temp on the wheel bearings. if you can grease the hubs before you drive I would. also make sure the lights work. I hate following anything without working brake lights.

Without more info I can't help much more. just ride them.

alright you know what to the five year old admin who has a stick up his a** please tell me..why must you continue to delete my posts? how is posting a link to a you tube video of them running violating any terms? google my user name im on literally dozens of forums with thousands of posts n rep im not some troll trying to cause problems.

what a joke! to those who tried to help thanks, sorry you cant watch the you tube video apparently thats out of line!!

thanks for your help I do appreciate it. ill take what you said into consideration ive already emailed the guy to ask the oil type and the things you mentioned!

Don't be too hard on the moderators here. They do their best to keep (what they may believe to be at the time) spam off here. This is a really good forum and I've learned allot from these guys.

why are you even here my friend, u probably wont be much longer, u made 6 posts here and u think someone owes u something, now u say stuff about administrator, i think your about 5 yrs old ......

Why am I here? Because I know how much you can learn from a forum and its members. I also know not all forums are created equal and this is a great example! Look when you come onto a forum asking for some simple pointers and advice after you clearly stated you already bought these skis and arent trying to sell anything, only to have one post after another deleted with no explanation it pisses you off. The fact that you even need a mod to approve posts tells me this place has issues. Every post I made except the one bout the mod was respectful.Like I said im on dozens of forums with thousands of posts n tons of positiv rep so for you to bash me and act like im some troll is a joke. Im actually really surprised whoever the power tripping mod is hasnt already banned me for all my spam!

dmeyer07 - Welcome to the forum and sorry about these problems.

OK Guys let's quit bickering. It was a honest mistake that his first post was deleted. I replied that I couldn't open the Ebay or the Utube links but Sabr could after some investigating. Some might have reported it as spam (I didn't) or one of the mods saw a post about it.

Let's help him out. he wants to know if he did ok with these 2 skis in Florida.
I wish i was there to meet him in FL and help him out, since he is in WI.

here is the link again. He paid $5300 with Trailer.....sounds pretty good to me....but I'm not up on recent ski prices. Florida is a hot state and prices can be a bit higher there.

MODS - i didn't start the thread, can you put dmeyer07 name back on top????

Thank you for being a decent guy, the only reason ive even stuck around was because I can see there are some cool very helpful guys on this forum and as I stated im a total beginner to anything on the water.

Now im going to try once more to post the videos of them running..again I already technically own these im not trying to sell anything and im not a troll! Just a guy in need of some input from some experienced riders!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5MTc...ADvjVQa1PpcFNVuiPqp2ingFlUbinzcXr3FvS-pURmd_o

These videos are also in the ebay listing description in case my links arent working. Im on a mobile phone, I apologize.

Also one of my concerns is I noticed the guy in this video has the water turned on through the garden hose BEFORE the engine is turned on..I heard this is a really bad idea did he do any harm or am I misinformed?

thanks
-Dave

Yes i saw that too. If the motor is turned on ASAP within seconds then MAYBE it's ok. It did start and run so that's a good sign......but he shut down the motor w/o turning off the water...can't see when he stopped it. If you start it easily then it's OK. I didn't see the "pee hole" tell tale water outlet....did anyone? maybe he moved it to the side????

OK I saw the tell tale on the GTX, but he still started the hose before the motor.

Make sure you test drive them.
I like the trailer too shouldn't rust and the long tongue makes it easy to load/unload at the ramp and room for a storage box if you want one.

Looks like a good deal actually. Its tough to read how a person treats there stuff just through a video and ebay auction...BUT just from the video it appears that they are in good shape. The guy not fully understanding the method of turning the water off before you kill the engine kinda alarms me...What else does he not know? All in all though, it appears to be a great deal. Just make sure they run good. Water test them both and do compression checks. I'm also curious why one needed an engine at 69 hours....im guessing previous owner abuse or neglect.

Chillax friend. No mods were flagging you posts. The software AUTOMATICALLY flagged your posts because of all the links you included. I approved them.

so I asked the seller the questions you guys told me to. here is his reply

Dave; Answer 1)GTX rode Lake Thonotosassa (Indian name) about an hour from here, till i bought from a Dr. in '06. XP same thin ptetty much, bought on e-bay in '07 from Ky. or Ks. all fresh water there. old neighbor across street used to let me use his ramp, would pull right into my driveway dripping wet-flush for 5 minutes cleaned and put in garage, under house, stilt house. (that answers question 2 also.) Answer 3) Always always "SEA-DOO" synthetic yellow jug oil-you'll do the same. Answer 4)Understand you own these, will start for you, hook up to hose, guarantee they are everything shown in ad, 2 used skis in much better than average condition owned by 50 year olds, just need to be ridden. We all buy these as is, always scary but my rating should help put you at ease a little, bought and sold over 490 things on e-bay, dozens of classic cars, dirtbikes, motorhomes, a four wheeler, etc., etc. all (100%) happy, i think you'll be happy too. See you Sat.(Sun. if you get tired) bring my number.
