Hello All,

I am looking at buying a 2008 Islandia and had some questions regarding maintenance costs and parts ect...

I have heard that air filters and other maintenance parts can be expensive on these models, any input would be welcome.

Being new to boating just looking for general advice and comments.

It is a used boat with only a few hours and remaining factory warranty.

Thanks ahead of time for your responses!

Anyone....Anyone.....

Even a little advice on Sea Doo drive systems in general and or assiocated maintenance costs....

Thanks

The Islandia is a great platform and you will enjoy it. Being the boat is practically new with little run time, you shouldn't have to worry about major issues (and if so, the factory warranty should cover them). Depending on the number of hours on the boat, you will need to bring it to a Seadoo shop and have them do a 10hr check. One member in Florida was quoted roughly $590 for the 10hr inspections/change of fluids/etc. This is a must, as BRP can void any warranty work if they deem a problem was caused/not caught by not having the 10hr inspection done. If the boat already has surpassed the 10 hrs, and the previous owner had the check done, you're good to go other than regular maintenance such as flushing the engines/changing fluids/spark plugs at the beginning of the boating season/etc.

Thanks for the information, will check with the dealer to see if the ten hour check was completed.

All advice is welcome!

If I had the vehicle to pull it I would have bought an Islandia instead of the Utopia. I love the feature set in the Islandia! I assume yours will also have the twin rotax 4-tecs. Post pics when you can.

Yes, the 08 has twin 215 rotax. It will really get up and move. We are taking it out Sunday for a sea trial with the dealer. Can't wait to drive it. I will send pics when I can.

Craig, are you the one pulling with a Honda mini-van?

Tow Vehicle

Jon,

That Islandia should boogie with the twin 215's. My Utopia with the twin 155's really scoots so I bet the islandia will run every bit as good.

As for tow vehicle, no I used to use a first gen Kia Sedona when I had my Challenger 2000. Today we use our Dakota Quad cab pick-up for the Utopia. What are you planning on using for the Islandia tow vehicle? I think a Minivan would NOT be enough vehicle for the Islandia. Your looking at over 5000 pounds. I would want a V8 powered SUV or pick-up for that rig.

Sounds like the boat was a dealer/demo and its currently in the dealer's remaining stock. If that's the case, it should have full factory warranty from the time of your purchase. Hopefully you can get a really good deal on the boat.

I have an '03 Islandia with the Mercury powerplant. You'll love the twin 215's in the boat. As Craig said, it will get up and move with plenty of power to spare. You will easily be able to tube, ski, and wakeboard behind the boat with ease.

I pull my boat with a Tahoe/Tundra. They both work great and have no problems. As Craig said, you're looking at 5000# so an SUV/truck is a must. It's a big boat, at 3500# dry. Add 330# for a full tank of gas, and then gear, you're close to 4000#. Add another 1000# for the trailer, and the weight starts to add up.

No I would be using a 3/4 ton van or a Ford F150 to pull, I just thought I saw craigs name in another post saying he used a Honda van.

The boat isn't a Demo, coming from a used boat dealer with good reputation. I believe it was a Repo. I have seen it, it looks brand new! I will have the Dealer get it scanned prior to purchase though. Thanks for all the info!

08 Islandia

I have had mine for 1 year now, have burned tons of gas with no problems. As far as the air filters mine came equipt with serviceable ones much like the K&N's.
