Got the boat back in the water today, and even though we are on a break-in period, this thing performed like a completely different boat with the SkatTrak Swirl impeller.

I used to have to put the trim all the way down, floor the boat, and slowly push the trim forward to get it to plane, and it still took around 10 seconds.

Today, didn't matter where I had the trim, and only using 5000-5500 rpms, it would plane in 3-4 seconds. :hurray::hurray::hurray:

I floored it a couple times for just a few seconds, and it would accellerate quickly, but I didn't leave it there long enough to get top speed, so I don't know how much I lost off the top end. Estimates from Impros is 1-2 mph, and that could be pretty accurate.

Boat ran GREAT, impeller is a MUST HAVE for anyone running one of these old boats. Call Dave at Impros, tell him what you have, and trust the guy...he knows what he is talking about:cheers:

Congrats scoop!!!:hurray:
It's good to hear all is going well.
Check your plugs often to make sure it's not running lean.
Enjoy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Taking it out again today, and will check those plugs.

Might swap them out, since I have 3 hours on them with 1/2 gallon of oil in this first tank of gas. They may be pretty gummy already. I bought a 10-pack of plugs so I have plenty to mess around with.

Plugs looked fine today. A little sooty from the premix, but I swapped them anyway.

With my wife and parents in the boat, we were easily 100-150 lbs over the weight limit of passengers and cargo, and it still pulled out of the hole in less than 6-7 seconds. It would spin a little if the trim was all the way up, but if in the middle or down, it took right off like nobody's business.

Ran great all day long :hurray::hurray:

Now is this in your boat or in the jetski?? I was going to say I thought the boat was already perfect. Let me know did you go with a different pitch so it would pull harder out of the hole?

This is in the 97 Challenger boat. The XP comes out of the hole TOO FAST, in my opinion. It actually jumps out of the water, but that is kinda cool:hurray:

The boat was too slow out of the hole, and the 16/24 Swirl impeller really helps it out a bunch.

I can even do a "spin out" where I crank the wheel full and gun it and it will flip the back end around like I do on my jet ski, and instead of losing all the forward momentum, it will keep about half the speed or so instead of completely stalling in the water. Then hops right back out of the hole.

It really is like a WHOLE OTHER BOAT!:hurray::hurray::hurray:

I got a kit in the mail today to put foot straps on my old 6'4" Rusty Surfboard, my old reliable board is going to be used to "skurf" behind the boat starting next time I go out. The straps are adjustable, and attach by foam traction pads that are a little thicker in the middle (arch bar). Getting ready to go scrape off the wax and put on my new pads as we speak. I will post a pic when done...

Sounds good man. My boat which is the same as yours went it to get winterized and checked out and the impeller and wear ring were both destroyed he said. I can't wait until next year to run it and see the difference. I am going stock pitch on it though. Sucks I won't be able to test it as it is getting winterized too so next spring I can't wait to see how it goes. I am sure I will be in for it just like you and notice it is like a new boat.

Here is the surfboard before-and-after.

The kit came with everything but the straps, but they should be in before next weekend. Hopefully get to try it out then:hurray:

By the way, Dan, it is the change in pitch that gave me all the extra OOOMPH! Give Dave at impros a call and he can tell you all you need to know about getting that boat faster, out of the hole quicker, or whatever it is you want it to do.

If you need a stock pitch impeller, I will give mine to you. It is still in good shape, but I don't ever plan on using it again...

Yeah I know it is the change in pitch that helped you. I just know that my boat was running horrible it took well over 60 seconds to plane out so even with a new stock pitch impeller it will be an incredible change. I just can't wait and it is only Oct. 28th. I won't be able to put the boat in the water until at least April maybe even May.

Thanks for the offer on the impeller. My mechanic already ordered me a new one. It is coming in tomorrow. I would rather just go with a brand new impeller and wear ring. That way it will be perfect for years to come.
