Hey,

I just bought a Seadoo Challenger 2000 210hp and was giving it a once-over and noticed a thin grey hose that runs over the engine and down to the bottom of the boat on the starboard side. It has a strainer assembly on the end and I assume it is part of the cooling system but I'm just curious what it's purpose is as it is just loose in the bottom of the hull.

Thanks in advance,

Adam

If there is a strainer on it... that's your bilge siphon. (should be hooked to the engine base plate)

Basically... when the engine is running... the end of the pump nozzle makes a vacuum, and Mercury took advantage of that, to help drain any water in the bilge. The reason it's tied up high in the middle, is to keep water from back flowing into the hull when the engine is off.
