new owner help w/ 96 gtx service

I keep seeing need for oil change somwhere in impeller shaft area. Book says dealer service. I do my own service but would like some input on procedure. Also how often it needs attention. One other issue I had one time only on a crank attempt the starter contnued to spin until I removed battery cable. after hooking back it worked fine. Any help here? Thanks and hello to forum group. you need to do the pump oil every season. i would recommend doing it in the fall, so any water in it can't sit all winter. but do it now. starting issue. replace the solenoid. it stuck in the crank position. it will do it again. if it does it on the water you might not notice until it wrecks your starter and flywheel.
