New owner and need simple answer

As crazy as this sounds, I need to know the size of the gas tank in my 1996 challenger jet boat.

If it's the single engine I'm pretty sure it's 27 gallons plus whatever the reserve is

The only gage that works currently is the speedometer. The boat starts and runs well but every now and then, after slowing down I try to take it back up to a faster speed and can only get about 10-15 mph. When this happens I bring the boat back to an idle/turn it off for seconds and restart, and all is well again. It runs about 35mph. I've had it out twice and this has happened about 6 times. Suggestions on where to look first?

Since you've owned it, what have you done to it maintenance wise?

Nothing yet. Just bought it and only had it out two days. Of course, I was told it was ready to go. And it has run great except for this one thing.
