2005GTI

Hello from northeastern, NC. I have never owned a PWC before but have ridden them before. I am a previous boat owner but this is my first watercraft in quite a while. I just picked up a 2005 Sea Doo GTI. I guess "base" would be the proper sub model reference. It has no mirrors, no speedo. Though it was used, it turns out I know the original owner well and familiar enough with the second owner, that I bought it from, to trust that it was cared for and was a good buy. After getting it and the trailer registered yesterday, we took it out and it performed perfectly. Started right up every time and we had fun getting a feel for it.

Anyway, I have a few questions below if anyone would be willing to answer 1 or more of them in a reply to this post:

- It's missing the left rear corner bumper. What's the best way to find a replacement part number? I tried the parts warehouse link on this site and when I get a couple of pages in, my anti-virus picks up on something and blocks me from going any further.

- It came with a cover but it was never used much and appears to have sat in a ball collecting mildew stains all over it. I took it this morning to a laundromat and washed it in one of the big front loading machines in hot water with detergent and a sleeve of Invincible, which is that oxy-clean type stuff they sell on TV that is supposed to remove things like mildew stains. It came out looking better than when it went in but I am wondering if there is anything I can do or use to make it even better - any suggestions?

- Is there a mirror kit for this model? Law here states that you can't tow anyone behind a PWC without a spotter or a mirror. I have no plans to tow anyone but you never know.

- The trailer is in great shape and I know it was never used much. The tires are in great shape with plenty of tread. Each tire currently has about 20 lbs of air in it. I am assuming they are low just from sitting. But the only PSI reference I can find on the side of the tire states that it's rated for 900lbs of weight at 90PSI. Can that be right? I don't want to go putting 90psi in any tire unless I'm sure it should be that.

Temporarily turn off you AV so you can get the part numbers you are after. I use the site daily. I have Kaspersky and have taught it that it is a safe site.

Cover: use a pressure washer, works well.

Bumper corner: Minnetonka4me has many used parts.

Mirror kit: Do a search on Google, I have seen many aftermarket mirror options. MOST mirrors by law must be OVERSIZED to be legal for towing without a spotter.

90psi sounds high. Tread means nothing if they are old.

agree with the above,
mirror kits i've seen are quite ugly, but if they make it legal in your state then go for it. but check laws first.

I've never filled mine to 90, but 20 is definitely too low, I think mine are kept around 55ish. and if they are the 2005 tires, they might need replacement, nothing sux worse than a blowout on the highway with a ski on top. < I have AAA with RV coverage for the trailer just in case, and I usually have my spare in the back of the truck.

bumper corner... should run like $15 all over ebay... I have several laying around but some are slightly larger/smaller for different models. That's an easy fix and if you don't have one, get a rivet gun from HF or borrow one, fun toys.

careful washing the cover's sometimes they fray if you wash more than once... never tried a pressure washer , not a bad idea, or try Tilex bathroom mildew remover, it works awesome on moldy seats... my cover sits in a box cuz ski is always garaged, totally not needed in the garage, so if you plan on storing indoors, dont worry about it.

Thanks for the responses. I was able to find the part number for the corner bumper and order one. I know Tilex is great for things like the vinyl seats - I use it on my golf cart seats all the time. But, since it has bleach in it, wouldn't it take the color out of my cover? I'm not sure what a pressure could possibly do by itself. Was hoping there was a good mildew remover out there that doesn't have bleach in it, unless someone knows from experience that it won't bleach my yellow cover white.

Pressure washer does a great job. It will blast the mildew right out of it in every case that I have done for others. I'm like Spim, my cover is new hanging in the garage. Rarely use it,,, I did use a pressure washer on my boat canvas when it got mildewed, worked fantastic.

Nope,, for my job it does what I need perfectly. I have ZERO issues. Worth every penny to me. And it is a write off as well. I'm sure there are others out there that work well, but for me, I will stick with Kapersky. It is what the Fed Gov use to use until other companies cut deals with them...
