I am new to this forum.

I have 2 Seadoo LRV 2001 models. Carb engines.

One has MPEM with broken pin#7 on the #1 plug. My info gauge does not display but ski runs well.

Switched out the MPEM from the other LRV and the gauge works as it should and the ski runs well.

Both MPEm are # 278-001-398

I purchased a "new" MPEM 278-001-525.

With the new MPEM installed I took the ski to the lake. Guage now works as it should. After about 2 minutes of run time idling through a now wake zone the motor quit. It would start but only run for about 2 seconds.

Plugged in the old MPEM and the ski ran fine. Again this is the MPEM with pin #7 broken off so the gauge does not work. Ran the ski for 1 hour with no problems.

Re-installed the new MPEM and the same thing. Only this time I was in the middle of the lake and could go full throttle. After 2-3 minutes the same thing happen. The engine quit. It would start again but quit in 1-2 seconds.

I would remove the DESS key and plug it in again. Two beep as normal - restart and the engine quits again.

Put the old MPEM on again and it ran fine.

Any ideas what to do?

Thanks for anyone who can help.

Daniel

Sounds like you have a received a defective MPEM. Is it an aftermarket or OEM?

The new MPEM was from a boat dealer in Texas who has Seadoo parts. The part number 278-001-525 is an OEM replacement MPEM original MPEM for the 951 engine. The new MPEM had zero hours showing when I had it programmed to the DESS key by my mechanic. The sticker shows it was manufactured in 2005. The dealer had it sitting in inventory for a long time.

What do you mean by "d receive MPEM"? and by "art remarked"?

Fixed my earlier post. I was on a plane at 39,000 feet coming home from Ireland, looks like it lost some of my letters after I hit SUBMIT,,, sorry about that.

Far more importantly, how was Ireland? ;)

It was a nice trip. Spent 7 days there. Landed in Shannon and toured our way south and then east, then north to Dublin. Stayed in Castles and very nice hotels along the way.

Did all the big stuff such as Blarney Castle/stone, Guinness plant, Waterford Crystal, misc castles ect ect.

I'm off today, will get unpacked and do laundry, then back to work tomorrow.

Thanks for asking,,,

Ireland has a good reputation as a thirst quencher! lol

Did a tour at the Guinness Plant. I don't really like the beer, but had to have my free sample,,,

It's actually referred to as a 'Stout' rather than a 'Beer'. It takes about 3 or 4, over a period of time, to get hooked on it!

The way it's portrayed on US Television, with people drinking it from bottles etc. is just so wrong! It is best from a keg (barrel) as draught and even then, there are other factors that can ruin it. It is best in Ireland, no doubt.

I heard it taste better than the Guinness in the states.

It's considered light beer in Ireland lol

From a 'health' perspective, it is far lower in sugar than beer. Therefore, it could be the 'lite' option! :)

It's 4.3 ABV (Alcohol By Volume) so is not super strong by any means.

The 'Craft Beer' here can be wicked though, some of that stuff is over 9% and sends grown men home early! ;) haha

Powered by beer! The more you drink throughout the week, the less of the chance you will be talking Sh#@ to the toilet.
That just goes to show how much of a light weight I am. LOL
I like how we hijacked the thread with beer talk. All we needed is the word beer
Now we know the magic word is "BEER"

A wise man once said "my drinks just like I like my woman: dark, bitter, and preferably free of trade"

Dark beer all the away for me.
