I just got a three seater 2000 model kawi stx 1000 direct injection model...im absolutely in love with it...runs like it uses whipped cream and butter as the fuel (in other words, very smooth)!!!!
Just a few questions

Does it need a full sythetic oil like seadoo RAVE's? I would prefer a diffrent oil bcuz the full synthetic is $$$

Also where should I hook my tow line for a tube...on the little hook, or the big plastic one you hold on to???

The fuel pump, computer, and starter are all brand new, any other problems know for this ski (besides all those recalls)

THanks

Look in your Owner's Manual and you will find the info you need. FYI, if the manual states to use a TCW-3 oil you can use any brand.

I have a couple 97 1100 STX's (non DI) and albeit I know that Wal Mart's TCW-3 oil is manufactured by Quaker Oil (manufacturer changes often) and sells for about $12, I have been using Pennzoil XLF which is a blend (synthetic and mineral) and costs about $21 at Wal Mart.

IMO, the synthetic does not break down as quickly as a mineral oil, however, the mineral oil gives me a tad of protection when my PWC's are not in use for the winter, i.e, keeps the engine lubricated, thus preventing rust.

Again, albeit that last paragraph is my opinion, it was based upon research.

If I am wrong I am sure the knowledgeable Dr. Honda will correct me and as Martha Stewart would say, "that is a good thing" to ensure any opinions are not fallacious or made without any supporting precedent.

On a side note, how many miles are you getting to a tank going 25 -30 mph? The best I seem to get is about 70.
