Hey guys, i just bought my two 96 XP's last week and need some help. I am not totally stupid and work for Volvo as a technician but this 2 stroke and carb stuff throws me through a loop. I found one engine in my ski was siezed from taking on water and sand. I ordered a new engine and the guy is setting up my timing and rebuilding my carbs for me. My questions are:
1) Do i need to tune the carbs after they are rebuilt and how do i do this?
2) I read in the manual that you must bleed the oil injection after installing the engine but dont really understand where to do so and how without the engine running?
3) Anything else special I need to know after installing the engine, getting the alignment correct, installing the prop system, and all other lines?

I've rebuilt many car engines but dont understand this carb and 2 stroke stuff that much. All help is greatly appreciated and I hope to be on the water this labor day weekend. :hurray:

Welcome to the seadoo forum 240witSR. It sound like you have a lot to tackle before your ready to hit the water. There are a lot of things you 'll need to know if your doing this project yourself. As a mechanic you can relate to that I'm sure. If you don't have a Seadoo Manual I recommend that you join as a "premium member", as a first step. As a premium member you can down load a authentic seadoo manual from the seadoo manual library. In the library is a variety of manuals for almost all years and models. You can view as many as you like on line as a PDF file, or download it and print it for your personal and privet use. There are operator manuals and repair manuals for you to do your own repairs on your seadoo. The repair manuals have everything from troubleshooting, repair procedures to winterizing. It contains wire diagrams torque specs and pictures for disassemble and assemble instructions. In the spec sheets it tells everything needed to maintain oil changes, spark plug gaps, carburetor rebuilds and impeller wear ring tolerances. Click on the "Seadoo Manuals" link at the top of the page for more details. If you need any help or get in a jam, we are always here to answer your questions too.

I have the manuals and read them from cover to cover but there are things that are vague and I am unsure about. That is why I posted the questions I had. Thanks though.

Manuals....

Wow dude...........you say you have the manuals? .....and from what you just posted, your a Volvo technician?......Then please let me know what part of the manual your reading that is vague. The chapter on how to install and sync your carbs is really simple. My sister has the 97 XP, she did her own carbs with the manual. She didn't even need me....(made me feel un-needed, though I have passed my mechanical skills to family along the way. I guess they got tired of waiting on me!)
As for priming the oil pump, it's in there too!.........
We don't mind helping you but if you came in just to tell us that you read the manual from cover to cover and have a problem understanding or grasping the principle on how it works, maybe you should turn this over to a qualified mechanic.
I don't mean to sound rude here, but your answer to the post from one of our respected premium members sounds a bit vague to me on what it is you don't understand...... Have a beer on me and please, don't take my reply in offense. I don't mind helping, just ask. If you don't have a manual or the one you have is missing the page, then let us know. It's not what your asking, it's how your asking it. You don't have to kiss butt in here, but you do need to be honest as to what you've done and what your capable of doing.
