Sorry I posted this in PWC by mistake, maybe that is why I did not get much of a response. Lololol

Ok after reading pages of different post I am confused on the whole oil issue. I have a 2005 Seadoo Sportster LE DI with a 951.

1. Is the crank case oil the same thing as the counter balance oil?

2. I was told the case gets its oil from the 2cyc oil as the engine runs?

3. I have seen pictures of a 6mm plug on the side of the engine for draining the oil with suction, is this correct?

4. Is their a drain plug and fill cap on my engine?

5. What oil do you fill it with and how much?

Different issue:

I removed the pump to change my wear ring and when I removed the cone from the impeller it was full of water, not oil, not milk colored oil, but water. I ordered a new wear ring, cone o-ring, and what ever else is between the impeller and the pump housing. I also ordered the impeller removal tool and I used the site supporting vendor. The impeller still spins good, does this mean the bearing is ok or should I replace that also?

Also what about the fuel pump piston? Do I need to check anything on this or do any kind of maintance?

no I do not have a manual, and yes I have gone to the manual link but they do not show a manual for my machine.

There's some good counterbalance oil reservoir illustrations in the shop manual for 1999 Challenger 1800. Maybe that will help you. That manual specifies 1oz. SAE 30. Doesn't say anything about suction draining though. There's separate fill and drain plugs for the 787. Also, you can learn the anatomy of your crankcase by just looking at the diagrams in the parts catalog.

I think I can answer most of your questions:

1) 2-stroke engines do not not have crank case oil. The counter balance does have oil.

2) yes, the cylinders, pistons and crank get lubrication from the oil that mixes with the gas.

3) I'm not sure what screw you are speaking of. It may be the fill hole for the counterbalance.

4) no, there would not be a drain plug for engine oil.

5) the counterbalance is the only place that would have oil directly put in the engine.

It sounds like you're on target with the jet pump and the bearings.

Not sure what the fuel pump piston is. I don't think the 787 or 717 engines have something like that.

Good luck.

You've got seven started threads with a lot of the same questions in six of the threads. We've all got better things to do than to keep answering the same questions. PLEASE ASK ONLY ONCE IN ONE THREAD.

Let me expand on that.....

3) On your engine, if there is a fill screw... that is the only way for oil to get into the counterbalance gears. On some of the 800 engines... there is an internal hole for oil to dribble into. BUT... those engines do not have an external fill screw.

4) If you want to check/change the counter balance oil... you have to suck it out the fill hole.

As above... there isn't a "Fuel Piston"... so since you have a Di engine... Can I assume that you are talking about your air pump?

First off I am sorry if I posted in the wrong spot or to many times! I am new to all of this Internet forum stuff so I am sure I have screwed things up and I am sorry.

My children are excited about the boat and they want me to get it done so hey can enjoy it. You guys have been so much help, the day I brought it home it did not run or turn over at all. As of now everything works perfect except for the DESS post I think. I took some T&B heat shrink and put it over my lanyard plug then heated it, this tightened up the plug.

I did the beep test thing were you push the start/stop 5 times, plug in the lanyard and hit the start/stop again. When I do it the boat will either try to start or I get two short quick beeps, which I know means the lanyard is not being reconized.

When I had it out it only pulled to 5k rpm, but the plugs are bad and the rave valves looked like they had been in tar.

Doc told me to check the fuel pressure and I will do that this morning but where do you check the air?
