Hello all,

Just picked up a 2005 seadoo sportster sc with 44 hours on it. Very nice boat. The old owner had one of the temp sensors disconnected and said it was burned out. I replaced it this week and first time in the water after replacement, getting a check engine light and a 2 sec beep every 15 min or so. The boat runs great, full power. When the sensor is disconnected I have no light or beeps. Also to note the old sensor I pulled looked pretty bad almost melted.

Thank for any info!

Greg

I assume that the switch is a Normally Opened N/O switch. Which means, when the switch reaches a specific temp the switch closes and it trigger the alarm. But as I type this, that is not the logical way to wire this. I say this as, if you unplug it the light/alarm will never never trigger. I will take a look deeper and see if I can get a confirmation on which way it is wired.

What happens if you unplug the other temp sensor?

No light no alarm if EITHER temps sensor is unplugged?

Repairing and selling iPads, iPhones and Mini iPads.

That I will have to test that out. The only one I knew of was the one By the water box, but now I see the other one on the engine.

Last night I was able to drop the boat in and test out unpluging sensors. I unpluged each one seperately and together. Check engine light stayed on for every configeration. I'm starting to think switching out the exhaust sensor has nothing to do with the new check engine light even though it started right after.

You said the sensor was melted? That means little to no water was getting into your exhaust. Pump was clogged or crap is in the lines. Is the coating on the waterbox bubbled? Snap a pic.

I thought that might be the case. My water box is fine but I do have hoses that look like they are peeling. I'm going to start there pics to come.

Thank you!

So tonight I flushed the cooling lines and pulled most of them off to make sure nothing was in them. Everything looked very clean. Attached is the cooling sensor that fried. I installed a new one and now I have a check engine light. The sensor was the one just above the water box towards the back of the boat. seadoo plug.jpg

It seems to flush out fine with the garden hose. You would think it would have to be something with the cooling system because of the timeline.

Do these computers need to be reset after an error is stored similar to a car? The issue is the dealership is about 90 miles away that has a system that can read the boat. My local seadoo dealer says their computer only does PWC, which seems to line up with the seadoo website.

Everything seems to run fine, and I do have a temp warning light on my dash that has never come on. Just the check engine.

get the candoo system for under $400. you can reset faults, diagnose and reprogram keys. mine has already paid for itself.

i dont have a pwc, but why wouldnt it diagnose a boat!? same motor....

I would find a different dealer, that makes no sense. Its the same BUDS system that they use. Buy yourself a candoo system and do your own work, make keys and all. It pays for itself in no time.
