I was running my fresh rebuilt from top to bottom XP today on the hose for around 3 min or so today and was checking everything out before I go on my first run for break in and I put my hands down on the carrier seal and I noticed it was so hot I could not touch it. This is a brand new one bought on eBay from wsm it is full of Seadoo grease and is the old style non carbon ring for a 93. The heat was defiantly conning from the bearings do you guys have any idea what the heck is going on? Thanks in advance!

3 minutes is decent amount of time, I believe these like the carbon ring, are cooled by the lake water.

96 XP800!
Keep the 2 strokes alive!

Ok thanks I was little stressed out about it and did some reading and yes I did read a thread talking about the lake water. It does spin freely so I'm hoping it will be ok I dread having to rip everything apart again just for a stupid bearing lol!

3 minutes is too long for a couple of reasons. The Carbon Seal is cooled by the water the ski is sitting in, no water and it gets HOT quick. Also, when you run the ski on the hose you really are not cooling the engine. The hose is a FLUSH, not a running application. While on the hose, the water runs in revearse, so it does not really cool the engine.

The general rule is, 1 minute is the max to run while on a hose.

Ok thanks I usually don't run it that long at all but I was trying to trace some air bubbles in my fuel line and lost track of time I just put an inline fuel filter in and had an air leak at the fitting but yep thanks for the advise I won't run it past one minute in the future hopefully I didn't do any damage.
