New Challenger 210 Question

I just purchased a 210 challenger yesterday (2010) from a dealer 500 miles away from home. My local dealer was not helpful and priced their boat $5,000 higher than what I found with the Dealer I used. I am very happy with the price and the people at the dealership where very nice, however the dealivery walk through left a lot to be desired. Additionally, when I took delivery, Sheffield Capital (who I got the 3.99% rate from), asked me which dealer I was purchasing the boat from, since I was approved at both dealerships, and must of notified my local dealer. Within 15 minutes I got a phone call from the Sales Manager from my local dealer informing me I could not get my new boat serviced at their dealership. As a result I thought I would ask the forum a few basic questions that where not answered in the delivery.

1 My sales person said you can start each engine out of the water for no more than 10 seconds. Is that correct? What kind of damage can be done if more than 10 seconds.

2. Both radiators have no fluid in their reservoirs. I assume I should add some coolant. What does seadoo have a brand? Should I use a 50/50 mix?

3. The boat is the base 210 (not SE) so I need a cover I assume I will have to purchase online. What is the part # for the correct cover?

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Misfortune Over and Over again

Sorry for your ,misfortune.....TWICE. Sea Doo must have VERY low requirement on their dealership. I find in Florida several have Boats and PWCs advertised but only have the PWC's available. It took me three (boat) dealerships until I found one with some competence at the sales person level.

The fact is, boats take up a lot of room and motorcycles sell like candy, so why not put ten motorcycles where one boat could be. I found my Speedster 150 SCIC at a dealership in Ocala FL and was surprisingly pleased with the results. Friendly, no pressure, met the commitments made and have stayed in touch...what a unique idea call your customers back to preempt any complaints or questions you may have.

OK, your questions:
1. there should be engine coolant in both reservoirs up to the Fill Col line when level. The Owners manual will tell you what to use to top it off.
2. you should only run a TEC4 for 10-20 seconds, not for over heating, but there is no lubrication of the shaft bearings when not sitting in the water. They will over heat and tear up the seals fast.
3. I can't help with the cover, but there are several types depending on tower or not.

Good luck, find a good local Sea Doo/Rotax mechanic. The forum will help with that. We can tell you where not to go more often than where to go.

I would take the service complaint up with BRP. That is ridiculous that a dealer would refuse to work on a boat bought somewhere else. I have heard of that happening before though. How can they refuse warrany work...i would complain big time. As far as covers, do yourself a favor and dont bother with the OEM Sea Doo cover. Look up Poppy covers. They make the best seadoo covers..period. yours will run you $380. Call and talk to Terri, mention you are from here and I bet she takes good care of ya.

I am sure if I showed up with warranty work they would eventually get around to it. I would be at the bottom of the list. Since it was the sales manager telling me off, and not the Service manager I will give them the benefit of the doubt, it's just with the attitude they gave me I don't want to bother to visit them again. So thanks for the input.

I noticed you were in Indy. The poppy cover co is also in indiana. You would probably have it next day. I got mine in 2 days and I am 90 minutes from ya.

Good luck with your boat! I hope you will have better luck with yours. I purchased a 2010 210 430hp in August and had it back to the dealer about 10 times to fix multiple problems. Last problem was a sluggish port engine and engines not syncing very often. Had it winterized last time at dealer, so waiting for the first time to take it out and hope it is running better. Luckily I purchased from local dealer. They weren't the best price, but they have been trying to solve the problems. They fixed a few of them, but would appear they are not getting much help from the factory tech's to solve a couple of the more difficult sluggish engine, pulling to one side, engine sync type problems. Engines are much noiser than either my 2003 185hp or 2004 215hp SeaDoo PWC's. In fact can't really hear the Stereo when running about 35mph... In fact, it's at dealer now getting some vent cover trim pieces repaired that seemed to have glued on metal screw stubs to plastic trim pieces that seemed to have separated. Go figure!
