Howdy folks! Just wanted to say that this is a pretty good forum with some great information. My wife and I recently purchased 2 new 2018 GTI SEs this past week. Love them. Broke them in a bit, and rode them pretty hard. Fantastic machines with loads of power.

So, the question I had was on extended warranties. The dealer is offering a 5 year bumper to bumper...er....nose to tail warranty for $1300 per boat.

That seems a bit expensive, but am curious to your thoughts on if it’s worth it. Thanks.
Chris

Speaking from my experience I have had absolutely no issues with any of my Seadoo pwc's. I have had 1994-95, 2004, 2011, and now a 2012 RXPX I bought new all trouble free. We also currently have a 2010 Sea-Doo boat we bought used, other than issues from a sitting for a couple years prior to us purchasing we have had zero issues the past 3 years. But those are just my experiences I'm sure others will chime in as well.

I would see if that is a warranty through a 3rd party or actually direct from BRP. If it is 3rd party you might have better luck shopping around yourself.

they typically aren't worth the money and that does seem like a lot. They usually they have a bunch of exclusions too for the things that normally go wrong, probably exclude wiring issues which is a common issue in a boat. BRPs own extended B.E.S.T contract excludes wiring... found out the hard way.

I posted on here a few days ago about a problem I have with my 2017 GTI. Apparently I had a angle bearing failure and they have to rebuild the jet pump. I have 41 hours on the ski. I am out of warranty for a little less than a month and the dealer is trying to work with seafood but I do not know the result with that yet. Parts and labor are $675 plus tax. So I would definitely suggest getting the extended warranty. These machines are very temperamental.

I just purchased two new 2018 GTI SE's. I will be deciding the same issue that you bring up. Here are some of my thoughts:
Pro:
-Peace of mine that a big failure will be covered.
-Cost is around 71 Cents per day for the five years.
-If selling inside of the 5 year term, this would help sale (and sale pricing).
Cons:
-Just could set the $1300 aside and just pay for the repairs if or when they happen.
-Sea Doo maintenance shop drive me nuts. Always backlogged and poor troubleshooting leads to multiple visits.
-Sea Doo shops not close to where I live.
-I can do a lot of my own maintenance, parts cost would be the consideration.

Update: Seadoo covered my ski even though it was 1 month out of warranty.
Sea Doo, or your dealership? BRP wouldn't help me with a harness when it was one month out AND had the extended BEST warranty. The dealership helped me out and paid for the parts out of their goodwill fund.

I thought the regular warranty was one year but I received an email "B.E.S.T" saying my coverage is for two years. Not sure what it means.

Definitely consider only the seadoo factory warranty only. Most aftermarket ones cost more, and cover less. Also more profit for the selling dealer so some try to push the aftermarket ones even though they aren’t as good of a deal.

Seadoo! My dealer called them and they covered the ski. Very surprised and excited. Finally something works out. Jersey Shore Powersports service department is excellent.

The B.E.S.T is BRP's extended service service contract. The factory warranty is 12 months. Most new Models there is a promotion where they will come with additional warranty which is the B.E.S.T warranty it has a $50 deductible and some exclusions to it, including wiring, which was my problem. A month out of factory warranty (still within B.E.S.T terms with a $700 bill and BRP said NOPE, even after I called customer service.

It’s interesting you mention that. A couple of the dealers are using a Zurich after market warranty, and swear it’s better. They swear it covers more than the BEST warranty instead of the factory extension. Zurich is a large insurance company, so the warranty through them makes sense....

Read consumeraffairs.org and the reviews on the auto side of their warranty company. They may be better than some but still have many indicating they failed to reimburse for covered repairs.
