95sportster

New Member
I put up a wanted ad for a seadoo trailer for my sportster and got a response from a guy who had a trailer to fit my boat. Long story short, I ended up acquiring a 95 speedster along with the trailer. I got it for essentially the cost of the trailer alone. It hasn't run in 3 years and it was stored uncovered. I cleaned it up to see what I was working with. It is mechanically complete but I couldn't turn one of the motors over by hand. I have not thrown a battery in it yet. I'm on the fence if I want to take on this project or if I should just unload it on someone who does. I've put alot of work into my sportster and I just got it running great and reliable, but having a second engine is tempting. Any suggestions?

Do what sabr did, rebuild the motor but part out the ski (in your case, boat). He kept the motor as a spare to reduce down time if the one he uses ever fails.

good luck in your project

I would vote to part it out. There are a lot of guys who could use some of the hard parts if they are still good. Even if the seats are ugly... the base, and foam are sought after.

**** EDIT ******

Now that I see you have a 95 sportster... you could always swap your good parts over to the speedster hull, and part out what's left.

Hmm that's an idea. Combine all the good sportster parts with the speedster and sell the leftovers. I'd have only half as much work to do on it but it would require me to be boatless for a while. Maybe this is a winter project.
