Just today bought my first two pwc -
2 waverunners: 1995 Seadoo XP 650 and a 1989 Yamaha 500 for pretty cheap
From what I know ...
The Yamaha only needs a new impeller and runs great
The Seadoo basically has a shot engine, got water in the crank from what im told and I guess that basically killed the engine?
...Need some help, I have ridden enough on my friends skis but know very very little on the mechanical side. What do I do with this seadoo? Do I get an engine rebuild or get another engine and do a swap and approximate costs of doing this? I want to make it pretty solid and quick because i plan on taking it out on lake michigan with my buddies Any advice or pointers would be greatly appreciated, Thanks

Thanks for the help Im gonna have to get some cash together... I like the size of this ski, any advice on performance parts to get it up and going ?

I would just swap the engine out. Maybe throw a new wear ring in and change the pump oil. Check out the impeller as well to make sure it's not dinged up or broken while your in there.
While you have the engine out replace the fuel lines if they are gray with black fuel lines. Go through the whole fuel system, clean the carbs, filters, fuel selector. That way when you do put your new engine in it will be ready to roll with no problems.

That's really about it. Performance mods are expensive ans usually do not produce extreme results, maybe a few more mph, seadoos are built pretty close to the max as is.
