Need some advice BADLY

OK, I own a 2002 Utopia 185, I recently moved on to the Lake in GA and took my boat to get it tuned up before placing it into the water. Upon getting my boat back the initial trip to my dock from the ramp I noticed it running a little rough (didnt think too much of it at that time as to the weather was bad and I was running it slow) About 2 days later I took it out for a day on the water. When i went to start the boat I had to crank it several times because when I would put it into reverse it would die.) Upon getting it running and being on the lake for about a half hour I shut her off to jump in the water for a bit. When I went to restart the boat, it would crank but as soon as I disengaged the started it would die! What I ended up doing was having to start the boat and then give some throttle just to keep it alive. So I bring it back to the mech. shop and tell them the symptoms Im having which included (went through a tank of gas very fast, boat not starting back up, having to start several times in order to get it going, and generally running really rough) Upon looking at it they tell me that the fuel pressure was about low and that they needed to order and put in a part.. They did that and water tested it and called me said they were still having problems and that I was going to need a new ECU (electronic control unit) $1700. Its been well over a month from when I first brought them my boat and Im still w/o my boat.
My problem is this.....
Could the tune up (New spark plugs and fuel filters) have caused this problem, not that I dont want to pay if its something that needs fixing. I just feel Im being taken advantage of need some opinions of what could have caused this.

hey sorry to hear about your luck but judging by your avtar your luck isnt all that bad LOL..... um as far as i can t think i would check thing like the battery, maybe its bad gas.... ive also read on here about people cleaning the rave valves cause they get dirty and cause the boat to run bad... im not and expert on two stroke just some ideas for ya.....
