I just replaced the throttle cables on our '99 Challenger 1800 & they are MUCH better, thanks to a member that had a couple used ones lying around. Unfortunately, now it's looking like I'll need to replace the shifter cable as well.
I pulled the boat & the shift cable is still connected; the gates still raise & lower too. So I pulled the controls back out & the first thing was the heavy plastic bar that the cable goes through (diagram calls it the 'pivot bracket'; it's where the adjustments are made) was flexed & cracked. I'm pretty sure it was stressed because the cable was binding & so I'm looking to replace both, unless there's another way to get this going.
Does anyone have either good used ones? Or a good new source? Dealer is asking about $200 for both. Obviously I'd rather save some money to put gas in 'er!
Thanks!
