I need to buy a couple of batteries for a couple 96 xp's. I was wondering what brand people are getting good results from. I definatly want to get a maintence free type. I was also wondering where people are getting good prices at. I picked up a yakia battery for my gsi 3 yrs ago and its still good but i think it was $120 from the dealership. I was thinking of going the same route with xp batteries but dont know if the 787s need a better battery.

If you got three years out of a battery I'd stay with it. I've never got more than two years. I can't see why a 787 would need a bigger battery, same compression.

I looked at that battery at advanced, looks good they have one with 400 cranking amps as well. Plus if you spend oveR $100 rIght now you get a $50 coupon and 15% off

Batteries Plus.. Has a two year warranty battery... Has 325cca and its the shiz nite... Never have problems and I have left my bilge pump on for hours and still starts right up... Plus they have no questions asked on the warranty.. If you don't maintain it sometimes you can get a new one for free with in the two years, hehehehe..... Its $109 and at this time of year there is a mail in rebate and a core so you can get it for $90 and some change...

I think it was sabr that posted he uses Advance online coupon (20) and gets 20% off, then you go and pick it up at the store you have chosen.

Sabr - Please chime in on this.

Hey old fisherman, the battery on the web site is a ETX20L but your ski takes a ETX 16L. Just so you know.

If his uses etx16l what do mine take, 96 xp? Oh and the code for the coupon and 15% off is ma001 plus if you spend over $100 you get free shipping or store pickup if you prefer to get it quicker

I was looking at the etx30la it is a amg sealed 12 volt battery with 26 amp hour and 400 cranking amps. If i use this can i damage my mpem?

Sorry I'm late to this party.... BUT...

Regardless of the application... I use Die-Hard batteries. They have been proven to be one of the best batterys made. Sears has their own spec on them, so you can't say... "Well, it's the same battery as Auto-Zone."

FYI... Yuasa makes the powersports batteries.

Also... since K-Mart is now tied to Sears... they normally have a slightly better price, and they will run sales. Last year I bought a new "Wet" battery for my Polaris for $53, and an AGM (the "Gold" version) for my XP for $75 !!!!! You can't beat the price, with a known quality.

Last thing.... Never buy Wal-Mart, Chief Auto, or interstate batteries. They are some of the worst made, and I have seen TON'S of them that were bad out of the box, and almost as many fail within a week or two of being put in the bike, ski, or boat. (FYI, chief auto is also O'rylies, and Kregan depending where you live)

Hey Jetskigoodies, you 96 XP also takes the ETX16L. The ETX30L will be too large and not fit in the battery box. The ETX30L fits the 4TEC 4 strokes. I'm pretty sure all SeaDoo 2 strokes take the ETX16L.

For those who live in the houston area there is are several BatteryPlus stores in the area that sells Odyssey batteries. I will be getting one this weekend. Thanks

I believe the etx16/yb16clb is basically the same battery at the etx20's. Many of the 16's cross reference to the 20. Seems like all the options vary slightly in cca.

I'm looking for a new one also. Everything I read says to go wih the gel/agm type batteries. Even the maintenance free batteries are traditional acid batteries with the screw off caps. Seems like the gel ones last much longer and hold charges better

I think the jury is still out on the longevity of the agm-gel batteries. But regardless less maintenance and the batteries being safer is enough reason for me to buy one.
