I've been working on this boat for about a year now. Seats and what not. When I bought the boat motors ran no problem. Now it's finally time to get it in the water. I hooked the hose up the ports on the boat fired the first motor up and it ran no problem. It was running high rpm's 3k range, I would pull the choke out it would idle down to near shutting off? Shouldn't that be the other way around? So I fire it up again and let it run for about a minute and the alarm starts going off. Tried it a few more times all with the same results. So I try the other motor. Same exact thing! Runs for about a minute and the alarm starts going off and the same deal with the choke! The only other thing I noticed which didn't make me happy was water pouring out of the exhaust the big 90 going around the motor. I'm at a loss. I'm new to boating and these 2 strokes. I have good mechanical understanding. I've been working on cars since I was in diapers with my dad. (I'm 33 haha). Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated!!

Idle is 3k out of the water, 1500 in the water. If the 90 you are talking about is metal it is probably the welch plugs (welded circles on pipe) leaking. The alarm could have been because the welch plugs on the pipe leaking but i could be totaly wrong about that.

Ok didn't know about the idle. Haven't got it in the water yet. Yeah I can feel a round piece on the bottom of the pipe so that sounds about right. Thanks for the info!

Only one of the Welch plugs are leaking. So not sure where to start with that alarm. Since it is doing it on both motors

Minnetonka4me has welch plugs you can buy (along with any used part you may need) and you grind the old one off and have the new one welded on unless you weld aluminum and you do it. You can get the owners manual from the seadoo website for free if you dont have one and verify reasons for alarm but i think they are fuel, oil, temp. I think the oil light comes on for all alarms. I almost got the boat you have but the woman had to have the sun deck and i like the extra seat in the back of the challenger1800

Awesome. I'm hoping I can get something welded up before Saturday. I have a few friends that build late models I know they can weld anything. I wanted a challenger 1800 for the sun deck but I could find one at a decent price then this came along and I had to have it.
