This 96 was serviced at dealer in april of 07 then put in garage, I purchased from a family member. Replaced Battery with new, Drained gas, cleaned fuel filter. Put new plugs in it.

When you hit the start button motor turns over, got good spark, does not fire off. I have taken the air cover off, poured gas down carb and it will run till it burns that gas off. I have pulled the fuel lines ran air through them not clogged. I have pulled fuel lines tried starting and fuel trickles out of hose.

Where do I go from here? I've got to think this is some kind of fuel problem but I'm stuck. Previous owners always had dealer do all work every year. I can't afford that.

Thanks for the time and help

Fuel lines....

If you can pour gas (which I hope is mixed with a low ash, non NMMA, non TC-W3 oil) into the carb and the engine will run till you burn off the fuel, then you've got fuel problems.

Your fuel lines connecting to the carb need to be checked. if you look at the carb in a way you see the 3 nipples off the back of the fuel pump plate, the upper nipple is your fuel line return, the middle one is the pulse line, which goes down to the block and the bottom line is the fuel supply to the carb.

If thats how it's hooked up and you know the lines are clear, then you'll need to pull that plate off and check the filter, to see if it's blocked.

I have pulled the 2 lines off the carb that lead to the fuel tank. I have hooked compressed air up to it and I know are clear. I have not pulled the line that goes to the block.

Which Plate are you refering to and which filter.

Sorry first time owner appricaite the help.

Thanks

I think first be sure it doesn't have th Gray fuel lines on the seadoo. If so replace them. Take a sample to like Auto Zone and get black replacement fuel lines. Replace the clamps too while you at it. Use stainless steel ones to clamp everything down. The old Gray fuel lines have a problem breaking down from the inside out and clogging up the carbs. Next I would remove the carburetors and clean them. Used compressed air and carburetor cleaner to clean them. Be care full not to damage of tear the diaphragms or you'll need a rebuild kit to repair them. Make sure the small internal filters are cleaned also. Re-assemble the carbs and it should solve your problem.

If you still have problems give us a shout.

They are grey lines, I will replace and then try it again if that does not work, will try working on carb.

Thanks for the help

If it was the gray the lines caused the problem already...it won't undo itself. You'll have to clean the carbs to resolve the problem.

Exact issue i just had

Hey guys i had the Exact issue with my 95 when i bought it...And i mean Exact thing i was doing....followed the same things txhunter did....Could not get fuel...to get to the point

I had poured 3 gallons of new gas in it and it was not picking it up....Try what i did ...took fuel filter off under front ( assuming yours the same as mine ) I filled it up with gas and put it back on and it would suck it to carbs run a bit and die ( out of fuel ) ...i added 5 more gallons of gas and Had no more probs...( tried it on reserve also with 3 gallons of gas and it still did not pick it up )...but solving it was simple for me...just added gas....might want to try that...Im new and very well could be wrong...just wanted to share that because i had the EXACT issue,,,

Well, adding gas is fine...but it didn't solve the problem. If the internal filters are dirty it won't be able to pull gas through the filters...so you might want to pull you carburetors apart and clean them too... Your seadoo will run much better and you won't have to leave it toped off all the time. Replace the fuel lines and clean the carburetors.

very good point Oldmanactingyoung if the pickup in the tank has a crack in it or it is broke in any way it will only be able to pick up fuel above that point. It would not cost any more money to add fuel to top it off as you are going to put fuel in it any way. and that will let you know if it has a pick up problem. this is just one more easy check you can do. but as Karl said grey fuel lines need to be replaced and carbs cleaned. good luck Robin

I'll be working on it on Monday evening. Hopefully I can respond with Great Progress. Appriciate everybody's help VERY MUCH, hope some day I can return the favor to someone.

Take care.

What size are the fuel lines. Anybody know off the top of their heads.
If I can find out in the next 30 mins I can get them for free.

Thanks.

Fuel Lines

I have bougt XL FUEL LINE 1/4 INCH (6.3MM) SAE 30R7 NOT FOR FUEL INJECTION INJECTION SYSTEMS. For the 96 GTS. I have disconnected the 2 lines going into the carb, one feeds to the fuel tank, the other to the fuel filter and replaced both gray lines with the new fuel line listed above bought from O'Reilly's auto parts.

There are more gray lines running off the baffle and one off the fuel filter that are still there. I have what I'm guesing is vacuum lines going to the fuel cut off switch and another one that teas off and goes to the right side of the hull.

1) Do I need to replace ALL gray lines?

2) the lines going to the full switch look like the are going to be H*ll getting to any suggestions?

Yah...replace all grey lines, selector is a B-ch, but you can bypass it. Use the reserve line.
Since this still had grey lines, and if your gonna keep the selector, make sure you clean it out also, or just replace it

Yes you need to replace any fuel line that has fuel in them. The fuel deteriorate the inside of the fuel lines and clogs the carburetors. Do all the lines or you'll be cleaning the carbs again.
