........water ports on the nozzle for? I'm replacing the original pump on the left with the pump on the right. On my original pump the holes appear to be open to water. On the replacement they are not. Should I be worried about closing them off?

Hmmm..........it appears on this boat (98 sportster) they weren't connected to any tubes......maybe used on a different model? So I assume it wouldn't affect the pump it they were blocked off, correct or no?

Will not hurt the pump if they are blocked off..

Most boats never had them, they got an actual bilge pump.

Follow the letters VTS straight down, then look on either side of where the driveshaft is. You'l see 2 black blocks.....the siphon bailers. That is what would connect to the two tubes, but not on your sportster.

I'm curious........what do they siphon and on what? I don't have my jet ski here to look at.

Many skis have two tubes that lay on the bottom of the hull and are attached to the items pointed out above. When the water passes through the Jet-Tube at the rear, it passes below the tubes. This creates a "Venturi Effect" and basically draws any water that is in the hull out of the hull.

They act like a bilge pump but there is no mechanical parts.

Lol Lawndart Are you serious?? I've never tried it.. I heard if you nail it the entire time you'll be ok... I just wouldn't wanna try it

Oooooh so that's why I can ride around after forgetting the plug and not sink.

Your drain plugs act the same way when at plane. I tore a bellows in my 27 foot Searay and the bilge would barely keep up. I stopped and removed drain plugs and got into plane. Water was gone. Called ahead and had them set sit slings at the marina. Just outside of the harbor I put the plugs back in and hit the slings.

I've done it a few times....once on my spx it was out for several rides before we figured it out. Im just glad they make these for adults like me with ADD.

You must not stop long for the water to come in the PWC with no plug. This did make me laugh.. The boats don't use them so you are ok. You should have bilge pump in your boat. I would make sure that works since if you forget the plug the OEM pump is not strong. you might have a bad day.

A lot of the parts are interchangeable between the skis and boats. My boat has the holes for the bailer in the pump, but doesn't have the thru the hull tubes. My squiters on the ski have 2 holes, but only 1 is connected. On the boat, they are both connected (twin engine).

I like the fact that some of these things are interchangeable, keeps the parts price in line and available.

WFO.....is there any other way to ride a PWC? :D

Yes, bilge works fine and automatically comes on. I did forget the plug on the boat also. The neat thing about the boat plug is it is captured so water pressure forced it into the hole. I just reached down and screwed it in. Hardly any water made it into the hull.

Yup, I'm digging the fact I can buy a couple cheap old jet ski brass pumps off e-bay and they bolt right in. Ruin the drive on an I/O boat and you are F'ed.
