I recently bought a 1999 GSX Limited with 70 hrs on the ski. Since purchasing i have changed the stock fuel line (grey ones) to marine black and rebuild the carbs using the mikuni kit found in this forum. I just tried to fire it up for the first time since the carb rebuild. It will crank up but, just run away going up to about 6k to 7k rpm and dying down past idle and shuting off on its own. Any suggestion on what to do ? Im not to sure what else to put in the post please help me find the answer before taking it to a repair shop.

Thank you

Chris

My seadoo did the same thing after rebuilding the carbs.

Check and make sure the throttle cable is not stuck in the open position and moves freely on both carbs. Check for air leaks around the gaskets.

It should idle at 3000 rpm out of the water and 1400-1500 in the water.

One way to stop it if it keeps running away and pulling the lanyard off doesn't stop it is to pull the choke.

Hey Hey. Some times when putting the carbs back together the throttle lever can get hung up with all the fuel lines going everywhere around it. Take the throttle cable off and make sure when you pull that lever and let go it is free and it shuts the carbs down to fully closed with no tension on it. Make sure that the carbs are synced to open the same time also.

Put you cable back on and make sure that when the cable is on w/o hitting throttle that the carbs are completely closed. May need to readjust your cable. Put my carbs back on one time and the lever was getting hung up on one of the fuel line holders that ran in between the carbs not allowing it to fully close.

Be sure the carbs are tight and you have no air leaks. A high rev condition means it is leaned out and not getting enough fuel while running. Be sure the spark plugs are gaped properly too.
