Hi there!
I bought a used 1999 Sea Doo GTX Limited last year..
The oil and fuel weren't mixing and I ended up with a pretty badly melted engine... Now I'm trying to find a rebuilt engine.

Rotax 951cc, Twin Cylinder, Two Stroke, and R.A.V.E. bore.

If anyone has any ideas where to go to get my engine I would greatly appreciate it.. My last resort is I will just by one brand new.
Thanks, Kristin

aftermarket parts for a seadoo

thank you custompartsguy! I checked out ebay..they did have the engine i needed and it was rebuilt... but it's up to $1600 for a rebuilt engine.. I did find a rebuilt one for $500 but had a question..
The ad states: 2000 seadoo 951 cc engine complete with miller aftermarket heads, mikuni dual carbs, rave valves and has good compression that was tested 6 months ago.. do you think aftermarket parts are okay?

STAY AWAY FROM THAT MOTOR.....its far from recreational.

really? can you tell me why and what I need to look for when purchasing a rebuild?

when searching for a rebuilt motor you need to find a well known business, I actually like to see the motor before it is rebuilt to know its current condition. I would not buy that motor with the aftermarket head on it for the reason you have no clue what they did to it, everything is for sale for a reason, and something fishy is when they state "compression 6 months ago" that sounds fishy......that prob means current compression is not good hence why it is for sale. That motor in question is prob bored way out as an extreme motor......they also have the carbs on it as basically a complete motor for such a low start bid, be very carefull.

whew! close one.. thanks ;)
Do you know of any well know businesses I could check out.. I'd really like to get this thing running in the next couple of weeks.. I may just put a brand new engine in..

check your local shops and online, remember online you are going to pay shipping fees whether it is shown as shipping or free shipping with the shipping into the price.....so you may find one local for the same price.....I cannot rec anyone place as I have not bought any engine from anyone online. I have a problem with building my own engines. Just a check and I have no clue if they actually sell them or not but check with Jasper engines and see if they offer one, It just crossed my mind to check with them, but most likely they will not offer pwc engines, I know they offer automotive and boat, but unsure of pwc. The biggest thing to look for is a good warranty and quality of the build, with that a company that will honar their warranty also. The only reason I do not like to order online engines is if there is a problem most times you have to ship it back to them and wait for it to be fixed or replaced then if they cover the shipping which most do not, or some times they will allow a shop to fix it. Sometimes a local shop can be the best bet.

thank you custompartsguy.. i have a call into Jasper engines..
Do you think the only way that I am going to get a rebuild is trading in my parts? I think this is going to get pretty pricy because I can't salvage alot of my parts.. Also does anyone have any feedback for East Coast Cycles out of Bensalem, PA. I think they can help me but haven't really been able to find any reviews thus far?

Kristin,

I personally have not done business with sbtontheweb.com but I know several people whom have purchased rebuilt engine blocks from them. They do offer a warranty as well. I know they do require you to send in your old block once you get the new one. You keep and use all of your existing parts besides the block of course, ie carbs, exhaust etc.
