I just bought my first boat and had an unknowledgeable salesman. He told me about the 10 hour break in period, but could not explain what it involved. The dealership had no Sea Doo mechs on site (they are 2 hours away at a diffrent dealership). I have 6 hours on my boat and have opened it up a couple of times. Will this do any damage? What exactly should I do for the break in period?

Do what the manual says (it has a small section on the break-in period).

That said, I have the same boat and my salesman told me that it would be fine to open it up for a few seconds at a time. Just no wide open throttle for any extended periods of time. Also, make sure to vary your RPMS (don't keep it at the same RPM for long periods of time).

He's correct.

:agree: not holding WOT for more than a few seconds and to vary the throttle constantly is paramount for the engine to run in your bearings equally.

It is best no to exceed 3/4 throttle much in the first 10 hours of operation. Vary the rpm's is best and in long no wake areas vary the rpm's so as not to keep it constant at one rpm, even at idle.
