Hi all,

We after 2 and half months of waiting my 200 Speedster arrived today but somewhere between the Dealer in the US and local customs someone has lost the DESS Key

It was in there when it left the dealer as I have pics of it with it in there so I am pretty annoyed..

What is the procedure for getting new DESS key made for a 2007 200 Speedster?

Thanks all..

You can order one on line, but it needs to be programmed to the seadoo by your local dealer. You need the to bring the seadoo and the lanyard together to have it done.

man that sucks ! they like to blow off going down the road . $$$ mess up . take the boat to the dealer and let them reprogram it with 2 new keys . one for a spare , trust me one day you will wish you had the extra key !

Thanks for the replies guys!!

Made a few calls today and it turns out that the only place in Melbourne that can do it is almost 2 hours drive away, every dealer I called can do a ski but only once can do the sports boats.

This is crazy, I have a 4 hour round trip for a job that is going to take all of a minute and a half.

Make a few more calls tomorrow and see if I can find someone a little closer!!

HI The JP try the seadoo store in seaford. these guys have beenable to help me out over the years. I think the owners name is Marty. if he doesnt do it he will knw someone who can !! And welcome to the Forum finally another melbournite !!

Hi..

Yeah its the guys in Seaford that I found that could do it but they are miles from me. there is another place in Preston that can do Skis only apparently but they have never done any boats so it looks like a trip to seaford

I am not going to be able to do it for a fortnight though as I just can't spare the time so I can't even kick it over.

Yeah there is not many of these around which is why I decided to get one shipped over and to bye good used one they want the Earth for them
Can't wait to get it in the water

Hi

Well as I don't have a Key yet I thought I might Crank the engines over just to see if they are turning over ok.

So I follows the + lead from the Starter Motor and then back to a solenoid so I put a lead on the Positive Side of the battery and then back to the Starter Motor lead, the it cranked over a little and at the time I put it down to a weak battery but then I noticed when I did it there was some sparking to a point when I realized that it was arcing it self to the terminal, so I grabbed a test light and put one side to the Positive terminal on the battery and the other to the positive lead on the starter and the test lamp lit up. So this to me means there is ground coming through the engine and backup the starter motor.

Is this normal?
It seems rather strange to me that I could not just crank them over like that
Maybe I just need to wait and get the Key and see where I really am at??

Any pointers would be great

Paul

I would just wait to get the lanyard dess programmed so you don't short something out, or blow fuses, trying to get it to turn over. Be sure the batteries is good and charged up when you are ready to use the lanyard dess.
