Just got her yesterday after a 5 hr drive. It is a 04,pretty good condition, just needs a good wax job, a glove box latch/lock and a wind deflector.
One question though, when you pull the engine cover release in the glove box, is the engine cover suppose to lift up on its own. As it is right now someone has to pull the release while the other person lifts the lid.

Looks pretty good!!! How much did ya get it for? As far as the rear hatch, mine did the same thing. Open the top sun pad and look down to the latch assembly. Follow the cable till you feel a plastic nut. You can try adjusting it. It didnt help me though. I ended up having a few issues. The latch pin was bent like a hook almost. I replaced it and it still wouldnt open like it should. It always felt like it was hung up on something. The shop manual says to loosen the 2 nuts that hold the whole latch assembly down. Once they are loose the latch will self center around the pin and you can tighten them back down. Once tightened back down, it still wouldnt open. So my way to fix it was to just leave those 2 bolts loose a bit. I pull the handle now and pops right open.

Also, the pull handle in the storage compartment turns 90 degrees and locks once you pull up. So you can pull it up and lock it, then go yank on the lid yourself. Very handy if you are working alone.

ah glad to know it turns and locks, lol the guy I got it from said he would pull it and use his foot to open the lid. I thought maybe the gas shocks were bad but it holds it open just fine so i'll give that stuff you mentioned a look.
Now the push button latch that closes the top lid that's in front of the passenger seat is broke. It seems to be the push lock that's broke and online they are $100+ NO WAY!! Do you know of a cheap replacement? And lastly the green navigation light lens is cracked. Any known cheap replacements, those are $70 each.

How do you like the diamond pattern hydroturf? I cant decide between that or the grooved type. Any issues with the 3m glue not sticking since the surface on the boat is rough?

Most latches and locks seem to all be made by perko or other marine parts suppliers. I would turn to west marine or google to find parts like locks, latches, and lights. Im betting perko has a light that matches. What is wrong with the storage latches? Both my front locks were stuck in the locked position..where they were pushed in and turned. I took the lock off of the glove box and took it to a lock smith. They made me a key for 25 bucks. i then used it to unlock the 2 other locks. Once i got them unlocked i lubed em up good and worked them a few times now they work perfect.

As far as the turf, i love the diamond pattern. I just think it looks better on the boat. If you look at my project thread you will see some good pics of it, there is a spot on the front storage hatch that gets covered, i think it would look weird in the grooved pattern. I really wanted the molded diamond, but they didnt have it for the 200. I had the molded diamond on my 98 for 5 years and it was awesome. Never a single issue with it coming up. Ths stuff goes down awesome and isnt coming up when its done.

Good to know, well im missing the latch keys but I don't plan to keep anything locked BUT I have a feeling the left one was locked and someone popped it with a screwdriver. I got it to turn and it does latch now but I plan to take it out and look at it closer and maybe get a key made while im at it.

I didn't get far on the back lid yesterday but found the pin is not bent but the base was loose and needs to be adjusted tighter. Also the release in the center compartment does not lock if I turn it to the left or right :( I used some vise grips to hold it open. I ordered front and rear decals and some little parts. Ordered a Poppy cover and cleared out all the storage bins. Its 100* here so its just too dam hot.

What wire do you tag off of for power and where do you ground it if I am adding a depth finder? I see a cluster of black wires that seem to be grounded right behind the steering and gauges just under the ice chest but I am not sure.

Thanks for the help

PWGSX - can you give me an idea of the boat cost? Just curious because I am just starting to look at jet boats, and I have no idea what's a good deal. There is a 2002 X-20 Challenger not far from me for $8500.

I think that's a mercury powered boat so you can always search there for a good idea on the pricing of that boat. Definetly try to get an idea of the condition of any boat and run it through NADA and see what it blue books at, most boats are gonna be priced higher than they are worth because that's is they pay off for the current owner or they think it's worth what it's not. there are good deals out there you just need to be patient and wait for them.

Got it for $11000, nada says 12-13k average. I have seen them on CL for 12-15k and boat trader all the way up to 18k for a 2004. Mine is on good shape minus the busted stereo and a few broken plastic parts and just found out the tower will not lower bc he had it welded bc he didn't like the rattle. Look on CL for the better deals.

Yep... it's a Merc boat. $8500 is right. (sorry to be off subject) If you want to talk about the X20... make a post in the Merc section.

But... $11k is a good price. How many hrs on the engines?

11 is a great price. I think anything below 12ish is doing good. The broken hardware and cosmetic stuff isnt too big of a deal. I got it all fixed up on mine in no time. Id even be ok with the welded tower, i dont plan on ever lowering it. Of course it wont fit in my garge even with it down, so im stuck paying a pretty hefty price to store it in a place with a 12 foot door.

As far as the wiring for your depth finder, there are some wires in that compartment you can use. That common post is a ground, id have to hunt for a positive wire. If it were me, id just run a wire from the battery switch, but im just particular like that.

Yea your right, right to the switch might be better, otherwise it will be turning on and off every time you kill the motor.
