So... I have 2 little girls. My older kid isn't what I would call a "Girly-girl"... but she has zero interest in adrenalin. She doesn't like to play with dolls, and doesn't worry about making her hair perfect. BUT, she is FAR from being a tom-boy. She is perfectly happy playing on her iPad, and hasn't even learned how to ride a bike yet.

My Second kid is only 3... and she loves her baby dolls, and wearing pretty hair bows, and having her nails painted. BUT... she also loves to run around in the backyard with her bike, scooter, or Power wheels. Also... when she get's hurt... she normally cries for a minute or so... and then plays with the blood. (lol)

Anyway... I got tired of trying to keep a charge in her electric ride-on toys... so yesterday, I went out and got her a Polaris 50cc quad. And... after a few minutes of training... she has been going nutz on it. OK... I have it set so it can't go more than 7 mph or so... but she already hit the fence, and got banged up. And a hour later... was back on it.

Needless to say... I'm proud of how well she can drive already.

Here's a little vid of us in the backyard. (fyi, I'm on a little CRF50)

I guess the wife was taking some pics while we were out riding around. You can see what I was riding. LOL

FYI... If you look at the handle bars of my little bike... there's a gun mounted. The kids bought it for me last father's day. It's a battery powered squirt gun, and it even aims back and forth with a button mounted by the throttle.

Oh... and Lou... no prob with being one of my kids, since you are big enough to mow the grass.

Great times, but how come the "big" kid isn't wearing a helmet?

Lou

I wasn't worried about hitting my head into grass at 3~5 mph. But, I wear it when I really ride. (Even in my RZR)

I wonder if I can get a plow for her quad?? (lol)

Tony, That's one mean awesome jungle you have in your back yard. How much property do you have there?

That is very cool. You have no clue what these times are worth in regards to the value they hold in the future. Glad you are home to enjoy the kids

We bought a used Power Wheels Jeep for $20. Got new batteries and the 2 oldest kids used the hell out of it. Then it got recalled for the motor switch, got repalced. I can still see my daughter driving her 2 year old brother around in it. She could not back it to turn around. So her brother would stay seated and she would get out and lift back end and swing it around. Get back in and drive off. It was too funny. Then the wife sold it to a school countsler. It got recalled for the motor. New motor, tires and batteries. Twenty years later it's still being driven around by his grandkids.

Well... it's not really my back yard. But here's the deal.

I guess when my little community was built, they originally were going to make it a gated community, that you pay association due's into... and there was going to be a community center. As the homes were being built and bought... it was voted down, so where the community center was getting built turned into an empty field, and was known as "The green area."

When I first moved into this house... it was totally overgrown. One neighbor had a small section cleared (about the size of a volleyball court) just so he could have a little overflow when he had summer parties. At the time, no one else cared about it. And, since there wasn't a home owner's association... there wasn't any community money to take care of it.

Since I didn't like the way it looked... and since I also wanted to use it a little... I also started mow. And, over the years... I opened trails. (It's easy to do after the snow melts, and before the junk starts growing)

The nice thing is... I've been in this house for 10 years now... and I've been opening it a little more every year, and all the neighborhood kids play back there. It's surrounded with houses, so we don't have to worry about kids playing on the streets. And, we have opened the larger section up, so the kids have a nice hill to run their sleds on, in the winter. Also... my kids can get to 5 or 6 of their little friends houses, without even leaving "The back yard."

Oh... and now that I've turned it into a nice little "Park"... There is 3 or 4 other neighbors who also help mow, and trim back the bushes. (You can see one of them in the vid)

To answer the question directly... I have 3/4 acre, and the green area is about 3 acres, wit about 1.5 acres clear.

I do. I'm already old. (lol)

That was the problem this summer. My 3 year old ran 2 different power wheels vehicles so much, that she burnt the switches out of them. (And some wires got melted)

One of the electric toys was a police car, with 2 seats. I really thought the my older kid would want to drive around with the younger one. But, she just didn't have any interest. So now... my 3 year old is the driver for some of the older kids in the neighborhood.

That's awesome. She really is a confident kid. When you said..."I win"...she had somethin else in mind cause she goosed that throttle pretty quick!... HA!

You won't have any grass growin on those trails next year.

What's your oldest think of the younger's new toy?

At first... the older one was jealous. But then I reminded her that she got a real motorcycle when she was the same age... and that if she really wanted to ride the ATV, she could. (she doesn't want to ride) I also told her that I would put the training wheels back on the CRF50 if she wanted her own bike to ride. (she didn't)

Once my younger kid figures out how to use the brakes a little better... I'll take her to my ATV club, and go for a real ride. There's a mini MX track she will enjoy playing on.

Here's a pic from 2009, when I brought home the CRF's for me and my older kid. (she was 3-1/2 to 4 years old) She was super excited... but when she fell off the first time... that was the end of it.

I finally got my older kid to try the little ATV. I think she was a little scared... but she had a few other friends over, and the peer pressure got to her. (lol)

That's an awesome video Tony. Your comment about her hitting the fence made me remember what I did yesterday on my lawn tractor. I had a Snapper tractor for the past 15 years that had the brake pedal on the left. I got a Toro tractor about a month ago that has the brake pedal on the right. Well, while cutting the grass yesterday, I made a sharp turn on the hill in the back yard toward a tree and tried to apply the brake with my Left foot and hit the tree. Luckily just a scrape on the hood. Maybe I should have you set a limit on my mph just in case.
