All the shops want to sell me an entire fuel baffle for $180.

All I need is the new plastic float with the magnets in it.

Mine got "waterlogged" and didn't want to float anymore.

Will this one fit? Found it on ebay. Mine is black, but looks like this. And the price is right at $15.

Karl said he may have one for me, if he doesn't find one, I will buy this one. If it doesn't fit, I am only out $20. Can't complain much about that, and much better than replacing the entire baffle when the rest of the unit is in good working order.

On the ebay site...

If your fuel gauge is not working 9 out of 10 this item will fix the problem.

The oem Sea Doo baffle (fuel pickup) has an integrated fuel sensor on models which have a fuel gauge. It consists of a foam float with magnets attached which moves up/down along a circuit board with changing fuel level. The stock Sea Doo float was prone to deterioration with time. Once the float deteriorates to the point of losing buoyancy or if magnets become detached, no fuel reading will be possible. If you have found this to be the case, then this new upgraded float may be what you need!

How did you get water in your fuel tank? sory I just had to ask I am all most sure you ment fuel loged but water does settle to the bottum so you very well may be correct. I have a very close problem as you, may be the same exact problem but it will wait a litle longer before I fix it. I was hoping that it was a simple problem for you and it does seem to be.

That is why i put waterlogged inside "quotation marks". I didn't really mean "water" logged.

I got to the point where I was drilling holes in each end thinking it was hollow, and was going to blow the gas out and patch the holes up with epoxy. As soon as the drill put pressure on the plastic, gas started to seep out of the material, at which point I knew it was solid foam, not hollow plastic. So I just chipped a big chunk off (it doesn't float anyway, so why pussyfoot around with it?) and it was soft and brittle, and pretty much just falling apart.

The ones on ebay are advertised as a different material that won't waterlog.

Before I tore it open, I floated it in a cup of water and it floated fine, but a little deep. So I dumped the water and poured gas over it, and it sunk like a rock...

I love experimenting like this, especially with volatile chemicals :reddevil:

Robin, I know you were kidding...We need a bigger supply of smilies so I can put some good ones after my responses and not sound like I am being a jerk. :boxing_smiley::cheers::hurray::hat:etc. etc.

By the way, I emailed the seller and he said he actually used the same part to fix his own 97 challenger, so it should work, unless he is shooting me a wolf biscuit....:reddevil:

Interesting...

I wrote that about the "wolf biscuit" and then wondered where that term came from. I could not find it, so apparently, I picked it up from my wife's down-south family. Closest thing I could find was "wolf cookie" which came up as 2 different definitions on an internet search, one was a bit obscene, and I won't repeat it here. The other was a small piece of "crap" which is pretty much the way I intended it to mean in the first place.

The internet is a WONDERFUL place to research all those little nuances we experience in our daily lives, yet don't quite know their origins.

I am originally from California, so when I married a Texas Girl and hung around with her family for a few years, I started to hear lots of really interesting slang and terms. I never thought about looking them up on the internet, or wikipedia, to see what they really mean or where they originated from.

Kinda scary, if you take a look at what the real meanings are of some of the slang terms you use on a daily basis...:reddevil:

My SPX shows EMPTY until about 1/2 or 3/4 of a tank... Could i have the same issue? I would think if it was my float it would should a 1/2 and then go down form there but not go up from empty after soe of the fuel has been used...
