my engine rev up without the boat moving?

Hey my name is MJ, I live in MASS. I just bought a seadoo challenger 1996 took it out on a river up here and already have a few problems. My engine revs up without the boat moving?
I was thinking fuel filter, has a litte bog to it so that was my first thing to do.
It is weird i had my friends sit in the front of the boat untill I got to 20 25 then had them move to the back and we got to 45. When I stopped I never could get get back to that speed, actually never could get passed 10mph. I have never owned a boat and this is my first time. If anyone could help I would greatly appriciate it. Thanks MJ

Welcome to the seadoo forum MJ. You should add you model and year of seadoo in you avatar so it will be at hand to help answer your question. in the future. It sounds like the wear ring is bad. Here is some info on its service spec.
Wear Ring clearance for your seadoo 1.0 mm or (.040in) Measure the clearance at the center of the impeller blades, with a 12” long gauge. Measure the clearance from the venturi side of the jet pump.

You could replace it youself if you wanted to. Let me know and I'll give you an idea of what you have to do, if it's bad.
